1  SENATE RESOLUTION
2  WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3  to learn of the death of Santa Calderon of East Moline, who
4  passed away on March 23, 2024; and
5  WHEREAS, Santa Calderon was born in Galva to Alfredo
6  Calderon and Maria Ortega on July 8, 1938; he served in the
7  U.S. Air Force for four years; he married Theresa Bustos in
8  Rock Island on January 31, 1964; and
9  WHEREAS, Santa Calderon retired from John Deere Harvester
10  in 1995 after 30 years of service; and
11  WHEREAS, Santa Calderon was affectionately known as "Cal"
12  or "Chubby"; he enjoyed sports, exercising, taking long walks
13  with his dogs, dancing, and supporting his family and the
14  community; and
15  WHEREAS, Santa Calderon was preceded in death by his
16  parents and his siblings, John Lopez, Jerry Lopez, Santos
17  Lopez, Bennie Gonzalez, Ann Besarra, Virginia Shelangouski,
18  Ava Gonzalez, Frances Padilla, and Clara Padilla; and
19  WHEREAS, Santa Calderon is survived by his wife of 60
20  years, Theresa; his children, Michael (Fred) Calderon-Magis,

1  Christopher Calderon, Carrie Calderon, and Melissa Calderon;
2  and his God-daughter, Nicole Lambach Lyle; therefore, be it
3  RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
4  ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
5  Santa Calderon and extend our sincere condolences to his
6  family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
7  further
