| 5 | 5 | | 3 to learn of the death of Joseph Calvin "Joe" Goebert of |

| 6 | 6 | | 4 Atkinson, who passed away on July 24, 2024; and |

| 7 | 7 | | 5 WHEREAS, Joe Goebert, the son of Phil and Anna |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | 6 (VanDeRostyne) Goebert, was born in Atkinson on December 20, |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | 7 1924; he attended St. Anthony Grade School, and he graduated |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | 8 from Atkinson High School in 1943; he served as a radioman and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | 9 gunner in the U.S. Navy during World War II, flying in a |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | 10 Grumman Avenger aircraft from the U.S.S. Randolph on missions |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | 11 in the Pacific Theater; he married Mary Lou Hecks at St. |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | 12 Anthony's Church in Atkinson on April 7, 1956; and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | 13 WHEREAS, Following his military service, Joe Goebert |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | 14 joined the U.S. Postal Service, working at the post offices in |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | 15 Atkinson and Rock Island; he was designated as postmaster of |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | 16 the Atkinson office in 1972, retiring in 1990; and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | 17 WHEREAS, Joe Goebert was a member of St. Anthony Church, |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | 18 the Atkinson Kiwanis Club, the Atkinson American Legion, and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | 19 the Henry County Forty and Eight; and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | 20 WHEREAS, Joe Goebert was preceded in death by his parents; |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | 21 his siblings, Lester Goebert and Marge Buysse; and his half |
