1 SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3 to learn of the death of Allen K. "Deacon" Jones of
4 Marshalltown, Iowa, who passed away on August 7, 2024; and
5 WHEREAS, Deacon Jones, the son of William and Marie
6 (Snodgrass) Jones, was born in Moline on April 21, 1945; he
7 graduated from Moline High School; he served in the U.S. Army
8 with the 196th Light Infantry Brigade in Vietnam; and
9 WHEREAS, Deacon Jones worked for Farmall, and he retired
10 from Navistar in Indianapolis, Indiana; and
11 WHEREAS, Deacon Jones enjoyed dirt track racing and
12 watching NASCAR; and
13 WHEREAS, Deacon Jones will be remembered for his unique
14 sense of humor and his love of playing pranks on friends and
15 family; and
16 WHEREAS, Deacon Jones was preceded in death by his father;
17 his mother and stepfather, Marie and Julius Jarama; and his
18 sisters, Patricia "Pat" (Michael) Nichols and Colette (Clement
19 "Junior") Gosa; and

1 WHEREAS, Deacon Jones is survived by his special friend of
2 40 years, Lisa Reschke; two nieces; two nephews; and many
3 great-nieces, great-nephews, and other family members;
4 therefore, be it
5 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
6 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
7 Allen K. "Deacon" Jones and extend our sincere condolences to
8 his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
9 further
