12	12	1 AN ACT concerning elections.
13	13	2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
14	14	3 represented in the General Assembly:
15	15	4 Section 5. The Election Code is amended by changing
16	16	5 Sections 4-14.1 and 5-9.1 as follows:
17	17	6 (10 ILCS 5/4-14.1) (from Ch. 46, par. 4-14.1)
18	18	7 Sec. 4-14.1. Cancelation of deceased voter's registration.
19	19	8 Upon establishment of an electronic reporting system for death
20	20	9 registrations as provided in the Vital Records Act, the county
21	21	10 clerk of the county where a decedent last resided, as
22	22	11 indicated on the decedent's death certificate, shall may issue
23	23	12 certifications of death records from that system and shall may
24	24	13 use that system to cancel the registration of any person who
25	25	14 has died during the preceding month. Regardless of whether or
26	26	15 not such a system has been established, it is the duty of the
27	27	16 county clerk to examine, monthly, the records deposited in his
28	28	17 or her office pursuant to the Vital Records Act that relate to
29	29	18 deaths in the county, and to cancel the registration of any
30	30	19 person who has died during the preceding month.
