11	11	1 AN ACT concerning transportation.
12	12	2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
13	13	3 represented in the General Assembly:
14	14	4 Section 5. The Illinois Vehicle Code is amended by adding
15	15	5 Section 11-1511.5 as follows:
16	16	6 (625 ILCS 5/11-1511.5 new)
17	17	7 Sec. 11-1511.5. Operation of bicycle approaching a stop
18	18	8 sign.
19	19	9 (a) As used in this Section, "immediate hazard" means a
20	20	10 vehicle approaching an intersection at a proximity and rate of
21	21	11 speed sufficient to indicate to a reasonable person that there
22	22	12 is a danger of collision or accident.
23	23	13 (b) Except as provided in subsection (c), an individual
24	24	14 operating a bicycle approaching a stop sign may proceed
25	25	15 through the intersection without stopping at the stop sign if:
26	26	16 (1) the individual slows to a reasonable speed; and
27	27	17 (2) the individual yields the right-of-way to:
28	28	18 (i) any pedestrian within the intersection or an
29	29	19 adjacent crosswalk;
30	30	20 (ii) other traffic within the intersection; and
31	31	21 (iii) oncoming traffic that poses an immediate
32	32	22 hazard during the time the individual is traveling
