311 1 AN ACT concerning transportation.
412 2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
513 3 represented in the General Assembly:
614 4 Section 5. The Illinois Vehicle Code is amended by adding
715 5 Section 3-699.26 as follows:

9-7 Sec. 3-699.26. Air Medal license plates.
10-8 (a) Beginning with the 2027 registration year, the
11-9 Secretary of State, upon receipt of all applicable fees and
12-10 applications made in the form prescribed by the Secretary, may
13-11 issue special registration plates designated as Air Medal
14-12 plates to residents of the State who have been awarded the Air
15-13 Medal by the United States Armed Forces. The special plates
16-14 issued under this Section shall be affixed only to passenger
17-15 vehicles of the first division, motorcycles, autocycles, and
18-16 motor vehicles of the second division weighing not more than
19-17 8,000 pounds. Plates under this Section shall expire according
20-18 to the multi-year procedure established by Section 3-414.1 of
21-19 this Code.
22-20 (b) The plates shall display the Air Medal. In all other
23-21 respects, the design and color of the special plates shall be
24-22 wholly within the discretion of the Secretary. Appropriate
25-23 documentation, as determined by the Secretary, shall accompany

18+8 (a) The Secretary of State, upon receipt of all applicable

36-3 in accordance with Section 3-405.1 of this Code. The plates
37-4 are not required to designate "Land of Lincoln", as prescribed
38-5 in subsection (b) of Section 3-412 of this Code. The Secretary
39-6 shall prescribe the eligibility requirements and, in his or
40-7 her discretion, shall approve and prescribe stickers or decals
41-8 as provided under Section 3-412.
