3	11		1 AN ACT concerning transportation.
4	12		2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
5	13		3 represented in the General Assembly:
6	14		4 Section 5. The Illinois Vehicle Code is amended by
7	15		5 changing Section 3-609.3 as follows:
8		-	6 (625 ILCS 5/3-609.3)
9		-	7 Sec. 3-609.3. Military series registration plates for
10		-	8 veterans with disabilities. In lieu of receiving registration
11		-	9 plates without the payment of a fee under Section 3-609, any
12		-	10 veteran who holds proof of a 50% or greater service-connected
13		-	11 disability from the United States Department of Veterans
14		-	12 Affairs may apply for a military series registration plate in
15		-	13 the manner prescribed by the Secretary of State. Upon the
16		-	14 veteran showing proof of the disability, a military series
17		-	15 registration plate may be issued to the veteran without fee
18		-	16 for the registration of one motor vehicle of the first
19		-	17 division or one motor vehicle of the second division weighing
20		-	18 not more than 8,000 pounds. Any additional fee collected for
21		-	19 the issuance and renewal of the military series registration
22		-	20 plate, as may be specified in the provision authorizing the
23		-	21 issuance of that special plate, shall not be included in the
24		-	22 fee waiver authorized under this Section.
