| 14 | 14 | | 4 Section 5. The Illinois Vehicle Code is amended by adding |

| 18 | 18 | | 8 (a) The Secretary of State, upon receipt of all applicable |

| 19 | 19 | | 9 fees and applications made in the form prescribed by the |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | 10 Secretary, may issue special registration plates designated as |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | 11 Air Medal plates. The special plates issued under this Section |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | 12 shall be affixed only to passenger vehicles of the first |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | 13 division, motorcycles, and motor vehicles of the second |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | 14 division weighing not more than 8,000 pounds. Plates under |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | 15 this Section shall expire according to the multi-year |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | 16 procedure established by Section 3-414.1 of this Code. |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | 17 (b) The plates shall display the Air Medal. In all other |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | 18 respects, the design and color of the special plates shall be |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | 19 wholly within the discretion of the Secretary. Appropriate |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | 20 documentation, as determined by the Secretary, shall accompany |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | 21 each application. The Secretary may, in his or her discretion, |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | 22 allow the plates to be issued as vanity plates or personalized |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | 23 in accordance with Section 3-405.1 of this Code. The plates |
