1212 1 AN ACT concerning State government.
1313 2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
1414 3 represented in the General Assembly:
1515 4 Section 5. The Salaries Act is amended by changing Section
1616 5 1 as follows:

1818 7 Sec. 1. There shall be allowed and paid an annual salary in
1919 8 lieu of all other salaries, fees, perquisites, benefit of
2020 9 compensation in any form whatsoever, to each of the officers
2121 10 herein named, the following respectively for terms beginning
2222 11 before January 9, 2023 and on and after January 11, 2027:

106106 2 Sec. 1. Each member of the General Assembly shall receive

125125 21 the House of Representatives, $10,500 each; 2 Deputy Majority

142142 2 Representatives, $10,500 each; beginning the second Wednesday

177177 1 additional amount. Prior to the 103rd General Assembly, the
178178 2 compensation provided for in this Section to be paid per year
179179 3 to members of the General Assembly, including the additional
180180 4 sums payable per year to officers of the General Assembly
181181 5 shall be paid in 12 equal monthly installments. The first such
182182 6 installment is payable on January 31, 1977. All subsequent
183183 7 equal monthly installments are payable on the last working day
184184 8 of the month. Prior to the 103rd General Assembly, a member who
185185 9 has held office any part of a month is entitled to compensation

187187 11 Beginning with the 103rd General Assembly, the
188188 12 compensation provided for in this Section to be paid per year
189189 13 to members of the General Assembly, including additional sums
190190 14 payable per year to officers of the General Assembly, shall be
191191 15 paid bi-monthly. Members who resign before completing the
192192 16 entire term in office shall be compensated on a prorated
193193 17 basis. Members completing the term of a vacancy shall be

195195 19 Mileage shall be paid at the rate of 20 cents per mile
196196 20 before January 9, 1985, and at the mileage allowance rate in
197197 21 effect under regulations promulgated pursuant to 5 U.S.C.

213213 1 the seat of government, to be computed by the Comptroller. A
214214 2 member traveling by public transportation for such purposes,
215215 3 however, shall be paid his actual cost of that transportation
216216 4 instead of on the mileage rate if his cost of public
217217 5 transportation exceeds the amount to which he would be
218218 6 entitled on a mileage basis. No member may be paid, whether on
219219 7 a mileage basis or for actual costs of public transportation,
220220 8 for more than one such trip for each week the General Assembly
221221 9 is actually in session. Each member shall also receive an
222222 10 allowance of $36 per day for lodging and meals while in
223223 11 attendance at sessions of the General Assembly before January
224224 12 9, 1985; beginning January 9, 1985, such food and lodging
225225 13 allowance shall be equal to the amount per day permitted to be
226226 14 deducted for such expenses under the Internal Revenue Code;
227227 15 however, beginning May 31, 1995, no allowance for food and
228228 16 lodging while in attendance at sessions is authorized for
229229 17 periods of time after the last day in May of each calendar
230230 18 year, except (i) if the General Assembly is convened in
231231 19 special session by either the Governor or the presiding
232232 20 officers of both houses, as provided by subsection (b) of
233233 21 Section 5 of Article IV of the Illinois Constitution or (ii) if
234234 22 the General Assembly is convened to consider bills vetoed,
235235 23 item vetoed, reduced, or returned with specific
236236 24 recommendations for change by the Governor as provided in
237237 25 Section 9 of Article IV of the Illinois Constitution. For
