1515 1 AN ACT concerning local government.
1616 2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
1717 3 represented in the General Assembly:
1818 4 Section 5. The Metropolitan Transit Authority Act is
1919 5 amended by changing Section 51 as follows:

2121 7 Sec. 51. Free and reduced fare services; eligibility.
2222 8 (a) Notwithstanding any law to the contrary, no later than
2323 9 60 days following January 18, 2008 (the effective date of
2424 10 Public Act 95-708) and until subsection (b) is implemented,
2525 11 any fixed route public transportation services provided by, or
2626 12 under grant or purchase of service contracts of, the Board
2727 13 shall be provided without charge to all senior citizens of the
2828 14 Metropolitan Region (as such term is defined in Section 1.03
2929 15 of the Regional Transportation Authority Act) aged 65 and
3030 16 older, under such conditions as shall be prescribed by the
3131 17 Board.
3232 18 (b) Notwithstanding any law to the contrary, no later than
3333 19 180 days following February 14, 2011 (the effective date of
3434 20 Public Act 96-1527), any fixed route public transportation
3535 21 services provided by, or under grant or purchase of service
3636 22 contracts of, the Board shall be provided without charge to
3737 23 senior citizens aged 65 and older whose income does not exceed

8282 1 105% of who meet the income eligibility limitation set forth
8383 2 in subsection (a-5) of Section 4 of the Senior Citizens and
8484 3 Persons with Disabilities Property Tax Relief Act, under such
8585 4 conditions as shall be prescribed by the Board. The Department
8686 5 on Aging shall furnish all information reasonably necessary to
8787 6 determine eligibility, including updated lists of individuals
8888 7 who are eligible for services without charge under this
8989 8 Section. After an initial eligibility determination is made,
9090 9 an individual's eligibility for free services shall
9191 10 automatically renew every 5 years after receipt by the
9292 11 Authority of a copy of the individual's government-issued
9393 12 identification card validating Illinois residency. Nothing in
9494 13 this Section shall relieve the Board from providing reduced
9595 14 fares as may be required by federal law.
9696 15 (c) The Board shall partner with the City of Chicago to
9797 16 provide transportation at reduced fares for participants in
9898 17 programs that offer employment and internship opportunities to
9999 18 youth and young adults ages 14 through 24.

132132 17 eligibility limitation set forth in subsection (a-5) of
133133 18 Section 4 of the Senior Citizens and Persons with Disabilities
134134 19 Property Tax Relief Act, under such conditions as shall be
135135 20 prescribed by the Suburban Bus Board. The Department on Aging
