18 | 18 | | 8 Sec. 10. Definitions. As used in this Act: |

19 | 19 | | 9 "Acupuncture" means evaluation or treatment that is |
---|
20 | 20 | | 10 effected by stimulating certain body points by the insertion |
---|
21 | 21 | | 11 of pre-sterilized, single-use, disposable needles, unless |
---|
22 | 22 | | 12 medically contraindicated. "Acupuncture" includes, but is not |
---|
23 | 23 | | 13 limited to, stimulation that may be effected by the |
---|
24 | 24 | | 14 application of heat, including far infrared, or cold, |
---|
25 | 25 | | 15 electricity, electro or magnetic stimulation, cold laser, |
---|
26 | 26 | | 16 vibration, cupping, gua sha, manual pressure, or other |
---|
27 | 27 | | 17 methods, with or without the concurrent use of needles, to |
---|
28 | 28 | | 18 prevent or modify the perception of pain, to normalize |
---|
29 | 29 | | 19 physiological functions, or for the treatment of diseases or |
---|
30 | 30 | | 20 dysfunctions of the body and includes the determination of a |
---|
31 | 31 | | 21 care regimen or treatment protocol according to traditional |
---|
32 | 32 | | 22 East Asian principles and activities referenced in Section 15 |

79 | 79 | | 12 includes activities referenced in Section 15 of this Act for |

80 | 80 | | 13 which a written referral is not required. Acupuncture also |

116 | 116 | | 13 "Board" means the Board of Acupuncture appointed by the |

117 | 117 | | 14 Secretary. |

118 | 118 | | 15 "Dentist" means a person licensed under the Illinois |

119 | 119 | | 16 Dental Practice Act. |

120 | 120 | | 17 "Department" means the Department of Financial and |
