12	12	1 AN ACT concerning education.
13	13	2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
14	14	3 represented in the General Assembly:
15	15	4 Section 5. The Board of Higher Education Act is amended by
16	16	5 changing Section 5 as follows:
17	17	6 (110 ILCS 205/5) (from Ch. 144, par. 185)
18	18	7 Sec. 5. The members of the Board shall serve without
19	19	8 compensation but they shall be reimbursed for their actual and
20	20	9 necessary traveling and other expenses while engaged in the
21	21	10 performance of their duties. A student member shall receive a
22	22	11 scholarship award of $500 for each semester in which the
23	23	12 student member is enrolled at an institution of higher
24	24	13 education and serving as a student member of the Board. The
25	25	14 scholarship shall be payable to the institution of higher
26	26	15 education at which the student member is enrolled and may be
27	27	16 used for tuition and fees, books, and supplies.
