1  AN ACT concerning criminal law.
2  Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3  represented in the General Assembly:
4  Section 5. The Unified Code of Corrections is amended by
5  changing Section 3-2-14 as follows:
6  (730 ILCS 5/3-2-14)
7  Sec. 3-2-14. Correctional officers of the Department of
8  Corrections; coverage under the federal Law Enforcement
9  Officers Safety Act of 2004. Correctional officers of the
10  Department of Corrections shall be deemed to be qualified law
11  enforcement officers or, for retired correctional officers of
12  the Department of Corrections, shall be deemed qualified
13  retired or separated law enforcement officers in Illinois for
14  purposes of coverage under the federal Law Enforcement
15  Officers Safety Act of 2004 and shall have all rights and
16  privileges granted by that Act if the correctional officer or
17  retired correctional officer is otherwise compliant with the
18  applicable laws of this State governing the implementation and
19  administration of the federal Law Enforcement Officers Safety
20  Act of 2004 in the State of Illinois. The Illinois Law
21  Enforcement Training Standards Board shall create a process
22  for Department of Corrections correctional officers and

4  Section 10. The County Jail Act is amended by changing
5  Section 26.1 as follows:
6  (730 ILCS 125/26.1)
7  Sec. 26.1. Deputies and county correctional officers;
8  coverage under the federal Law Enforcement Officers Safety Act
9  of 2004. Deputies and county correctional officers shall be
10  deemed to be qualified law enforcement officers or, if
11  retired, shall be deemed qualified retired or separated law
12  enforcement officers in Illinois for purposes of coverage
13  under the federal Law Enforcement Officers Safety Act of 2004
14  and shall have all rights and privileges granted by that Act if
15  the deputy or county correctional officer or retired deputy or
16  county correctional officer is otherwise compliant with the
17  applicable laws of this State governing the implementation and
18  administration of the federal Law Enforcement Officers Safety
19  Act of 2004 in the State of Illinois. The Illinois Law
