4	4	2 WHEREAS, On October 7, 2023, Hamas, a foreign terrorist
5	5	3 organization, launched a brutal terrorist attack upon the
6	6	4 civilians of the State of Israel; and
7	7	5 WHEREAS, The attack followed countless other terrorist
8	8	6 acts by Hamas against the State of Israel and its civilians,
9	9	7 and this cross-border assault included thousands of rockets
10	10	8 fired by Hamas into Israel and numerous terrorist incursions
11	11	9 into the streets and homes of Israeli civilians; and
12	12	10 WHEREAS, As a result of this heinous attack, more than
13	13	11 1,200 men, women, and children were killed and thousands more
14	14	12 were wounded; more than 200 Israelis and foreign nationals of
15	15	13 more than 30 countries, including U.S. citizens, have been
16	16	14 abducted and brutalized by Hamas terrorists, and rapes,
17	17	15 torture, and murders of abducted civilians have been reported;
18	18	16 and
19	19	17 WHEREAS, As of January 19, 2025, U.S. officials have
20	20	18 reported that 46 American citizens had been killed in the
21	21	19 brutal assault, with 251 hostages being taken in the attack on
22	22	20 October 7, 2023; of those, 57 hostages, including four U.S.
23	23	21 citizens believed to be alive and the bodies of three U.S.
24	24	22 citizens, have yet to be released and remain captive today;

34	34	2 WHEREAS, Continued prayers are offered to those abducted
35	35	3 civilians, including those American citizens and their
36	36	4 families, as the hostage release deal continues; and
37	37	5 WHEREAS, Hamas' attacks on October 7 unleashed a year of
38	38	6 devastating conflict, with tragic consequences for the State
39	39	7 of Israel and its civilians; and
40	40	8 WHEREAS, Over a year after the horrific attack on October
41	41	9 7, 2023, tragedy, destruction, and instability haunt the
42	42	10 people in the State of Israel today; patriotic Americans have
43	43	11 responded to this attack by expressing their unwavering
44	44	12 support for Israel and Jewish Americans; therefore, be it
45	45	13 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
46	46	14 HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
47	47	15 we reflect on the heinous Hamas terrorist attack of October 7,
48	48	16 2023, and we remember the lives of the civilians, soldiers,
49	49	17 and defenders who expressed unwavering support for the State
50	50	18 of Israel; and be it further
51	51	19 RESOLVED, That we extend our sincere condolences to the
52	52	20 families who have lost loved ones in this brutal assault,
53	53	21 including the families of the 46 American citizens who lost
