1  HOUSE RESOLUTION
2  WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3  Representatives wish to congratulate the Althoff Catholic High
4  School boys soccer team, the Crusaders, on winning the 2024
5  IHSA Class 2A State Championship; and
6  WHEREAS, The Crusaders dispatched Litchfield High School,
7  Civic Memorial High School, Carbondale Community High School,
8  Triad High School, Glenwood High School, Lemont High School,
9  and De La Salle High School on their way to the first
10  championship in school history for the boys soccer team; and
11  WHEREAS, The Crusaders compiled a regular season record of
12  26 wins and four losses on their way to the title; and
13  WHEREAS, The Crusaders finished second in the state
14  tournament in 2021 and 2022 and have won 98 games over the past
15  four seasons; and
16  WHEREAS, The Crusaders are Zach Winkler, Aidan Brown,
17  Brady Luechtefeld, Nate Pitre, Jack Sorgea, Joe Hamilton, Luke
18  Smith, Josh Meyers, Tyler Pollock, RJ Devine, Mackin Neville,
19  Sam Medlin, Dakarai Gray, Indy Johaningmeyer, Drew Gilliland,
20  Tyler Birdsong, Allan Pham, Nash Johaningmeyer, Michael Roche,
21  Sam Roche, Bo Gomric, Ben Ysursa, Christian Youngmeyer, Dax

1  Ahlers, Hayden Tell, Rhett Neville, and Danny Lopez-Baez; and
2  WHEREAS, The Crusaders are coached by Skip Birdsong, Chris
3  Bunting, and Mikey Stephens, and the manager is Sophia Ysursa;
4  and
5  WHEREAS, A number of Crusaders' team members earned
6  individual awards and recognition, including Tyler Birdsong
7  for being All-State, State Tournament MVP, and Chicagoland
8  Soccer 1st Team All-State, Nate Pitre for being All-Sectional
9  and Chicagoland Soccer All-State, Zach Winkler for being
10  Chicagoland Soccer All-State, and Luke Smith for being
11  All-Sectional; therefore, be it
12  RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
13  HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
14  we congratulate the Althoff Catholic High School boys soccer
15  team, the Crusaders, on winning the 2024 IHSA Class 2A State
16  Championship, and we wish them many more successful seasons;
