4	4	2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
5	5	3 Representatives wish to congratulate the Illinois Association
6	6	4 of Meat Processors on the occasion of its 50 year anniversary;
7	7	5 and
8	8	6 WHEREAS, The Illinois Association of Locker and Freezer
9	9	7 Provisioners was formed in 1962 when a group of small meat
10	10	8 locker owners expressed the need for education concerning meat
11	11	9 curing and processing, the need for assistance with
12	12	10 regulations and increased inspection, and a desire to share
13	13	11 business tips with others starting in the meat processing
14	14	12 industry; and
15	15	13 WHEREAS, The Illinois Association of Locker and Freezer
16	16	14 Provisioners legally changed their name to the Illinois
17	17	15 Association of Meat Processors in 1975 to reflect the evolving
18	18	16 meat processing industry, with the widespread availability of
19	19	17 home freezers decreasing the demand for customers to rent meat
20	20	18 lockers as well as the increased need for technical
21	21	19 information for processing and regulatory needs; the legal
22	22	20 name change also reflects the association's affiliation with
23	23	21 the American Association of Meat Processors; and
24	24	22 WHEREAS, The Illinois Association of Meat Processors is a

33	33	1 membership-driven, non-profit corporation that serves the
34	34	2 needs of small to mid-sized meat processing establishments
35	35	3 throughout Illinois and the businesses that supply them; and
36	36	4 WHEREAS, The Illinois Association of Meat Processors has
37	37	5 assisted members with legislative and inspective issues as
38	38	6 well as membership networking though tours and the annual
39	39	7 convention and trade show; and
40	40	8 WHEREAS, Throughout the history of the Illinois
41	41	9 Association of Meat Processors, the focus has been to create
42	42	10 opportunities through educational events and tours, develop
43	43	11 partnerships with industries who support meat processing, and
44	44	12 form partnerships with other agricultural organizations to
45	45	13 maximize forward progress of the agricultural economy in
46	46	14 Illinois; and
47	47	15 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Association of Meat
48	48	16 Processors have continued to give back to their communities
49	49	17 through their countless donations to food pantries and
50	50	18 participation in food insecurity programs over the years,
51	51	19 including such programs as the Illinois Deer Donation, Pork
52	52	20 Power, Grain for Good, Feeding Illinois, Sportsmen Against
53	53	21 Hunger, Hunters Feeding the Hungry, and many more; and
54	54	22 WHEREAS, For nearly 40 years, The Illinois Association of

65	65	1 Meat Processors has awarded scholarships to meat science
66	66	2 students at the University of Illinois; and
67	67	3 WHEREAS, The Illinois Association of Meat Processors is
68	68	4 the leading organization in Illinois that represents small to
69	69	5 medium sized primarily independently owned meat processing
70	70	6 establishments as well as the industry partners that serve the
71	71	7 meat industry and academia in the meat science field;
72	72	8 therefore, be it
73	73	9 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
74	74	10 HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
75	75	11 we congratulate the Illinois Association of Meat Processors on
76	76	12 the occasion of its 50th anniversary and honor the many years
77	77	13 of service that it has provided to the State of Illinois; and
