1  HOUSE RESOLUTION
2  WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3  Representatives wish to recognize Lieutenant Colonel Maria
4  Elizabeth Sanchez on her career, her achievements, and her
5  contribution to the State; and
6  WHEREAS, LTC Sanchez is the commander of the 6th Battalion
7  and Chicago Military Entrance Processing Station and supports
8  the USMEPCOM mission of evaluating applicants by applying
9  Department of Defense standards in processing and determining
10  eligibility for military service; and
11  WHEREAS, LTC Sanchez enlisted in the United States Army at
12  Phoenix MEPS and received her commission through Officer
13  Candidate School at Fort Benning, Georgia; and
14  WHEREAS, LTC Sanchez has served as photo and layout
15  specialist with the 4th Psychological Operations Group
16  (Airborne) at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, squad leader with
17  the 70th Engineer Company at Fort Shafter, Hawaii, platoon
18  sergeant with the 100th Engineer Company at Fort Bragg, and
19  instructor with the Defense Mapping School at Fort Belvoir,
20  Virginia; and
21  WHEREAS, LTC Sanchez's commissioned assignments include

3  to the United Arab Emirates; battalion human resources

5  Wheeler Army Airfield, Hawaii and deployed to Afghanistan;
6  personnel management officer, United States Army Pacific, Fort
7  Shafter; human resources officer, 25th Division Artillery,
8  Schofield Barracks, Hawaii; commander, San Juan MEPS, San
9  Juan, Puerto Rico; liaison, U.S. Military Entrance Processing
10  Command and Accessions Policy, Office of the Secretary of
11  Defense, Washington, D.C.; and military secretariat, Joint
12  Staff J6, Washington, D.C.; and
13  WHEREAS, LTC Sanchez's military education includes
14  Advanced Individual Training as a photo and layout specialist,
15  Senior Tactics Instructor Course, Officer Candidate School,
16  Basic Officer Leader Course, Air Defense Officer Basic Course,
17  Adjutant General Officer Advanced Course, Human Resources
18  Plans and Operations Course, Brigade Human Resources
19  Operations Course, and Command and General Staff College; and
20  WHEREAS, LTC Sanchez earned an Associate of Arts in
21  General Studies from Fayetteville Technical Community College
22  in North Carolina, a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish with a minor
23  in Latin American Studies from George Mason University in
24  Fairfax, Virginia, and a Master of Arts in Human Resource

1  Management from Webster University; and
2  WHEREAS, LTC Sanchez's military awards and decorations
3  include the Bronze Star Medal, three Defense Meritorious
4  Service Medals, the Meritorious Service Medal, the Joint
5  Service Commendation Medal, five Army Commendation Medals,
6  nine Army Achievement Medals, and various service, unit, and
7  personal medals and ribbons; therefore, be it
8  RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
9  HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
10  we recognize Lieutenant Colonel Maria Elizabeth Sanchez on her
11  career, her achievements, and the exceptional work that she
12  has done for both Illinois and Chicago MPS; and be it further
