4	4	2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
5	5	3 Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Patricia
6	6	4 A. "Pat" Mullins Kenny, who passed away on August 31, 2024; and
7	7	5 WHEREAS, Pat Kenny, the daughter of Dr. Patrick Mullins
8	8	6 and Mary (Mae) Cagney, was born in Bawtry, England on May 25,
9	9	7 1940; she and her family eventually emigrated to the United
10	10	8 States, settling in the Washington Heights area of New York
11	11	9 City; she married John Kenny at St. Elizabeth's Church on
12	12	10 September 1, 1962, and they eventually settled in Peoria,
13	13	11 where they raised their children; after John's passing in
14	14	12 2004, she moved to Springfield; and
15	15	13 WHEREAS, Pat Kenny held a multifaceted career; she began
16	16	14 the monthly newspaper West Bluff Word in her dining room; she
17	17	15 was a devoted Democrat and worked in local Democratic
18	18	16 politics; she managed the U.S. Census office in 1980; she had a
19	19	17 very successful career in real estate, which she often
20	20	18 operated like a charity by giving back her commission to the
21	21	19 buyer or seller, claiming they needed it more than she did; and
22	22	20 WHEREAS, Pat Kenny was involved in historic preservation,
23	23	21 a book club, the garden walk, and numerous other activities;

33	33	1 WHEREAS, Pat Kenny preferred wearing her signature purple
34	34	2 from head to toe; she loved decorating and entertaining, and
35	35	3 she often hosted large parties, including her famous Oscar
36	36	4 parties; she also opened her home to anyone who needed a roof
37	37	5 over their head; and
38	38	6 WHEREAS, Pat Kenny was a lifelong teetotaler and a devout
39	39	7 Catholic; she was known for being honest, frank, contrary,
40	40	8 extravagant, cosmopolitan, indomitable, resilient,
41	41	9 hardheaded, and extraordinarily kind; she will be remembered
42	42	10 for providing her progeny with the ability to pursue their
43	43	11 goals without caring what anyone thinks, a zest for living,
44	44	12 and a well-earned sense of humor; and
45	45	13 WHEREAS, Pat Kenny is survived by her children, Maeve
46	46	14 (Seamus) Reilly, Michael (Karla), Deirdre (Dave), Paul
47	47	15 (Kella), and Grainne (Mark), and 12 grandchildren; therefore,
48	48	16 be it
49	49	17 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
50	50	18 HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
51	51	19 we mourn the passing of Patricia "Pat" Mullins Kenny and
52	52	20 extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all
53	53	21 who knew and loved her; and be it further
