44 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
55 3 Representatives wish to congratulate Ronald McDonald House
66 4 Charities on the occasion of its 50th anniversary and its
77 5 profound impact on Illinois; and
88 6 WHEREAS, Ronald McDonald House Charities' programs and
99 7 services have addressed the essential needs of families with
1010 8 children who are ill or injured throughout the State of
1111 9 Illinois; and
1212 10 WHEREAS, The first Ronald McDonald House opened in
1313 11 Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on October 15, 1974, and the second
1414 12 Ronald McDonald House opened in Chicago in 1977; and
1515 13 WHEREAS, Ronald McDonald House Charities has since grown
1616 14 into a global organization that is active in 62 countries and
1717 15 regions around the world with over 1,000 programs that provide
1818 16 millions of families with support each year; and
1919 17 WHEREAS, Illinois is home to Ronald McDonald House
2020 18 Charities of Central Illinois and Ronald McDonald House
2121 19 Charities of Chicagoland and Northwest Indiana, which operate
2222 20 various houses, family rooms, care mobiles, and local programs

3434 3 WHEREAS, Ronald McDonald House Charities' programs and
3535 4 services assist in preserving families' finances, saving a
3636 5 total of $736 million in lodging and meal expenses in 2023
3737 6 alone; and
3838 7 WHEREAS, Ronald McDonald House Charities supports programs
3939 8 that directly improve the health and well-being of children
4040 9 and their families throughout the State of Illinois; and
4141 10 WHEREAS, McDonald's and its owners, operators, and
4242 11 customers annually raise millions through initiatives that
4343 12 encourage donations to Ronald McDonald House Charities; and
4444 13 WHEREAS, Donations to Ronald McDonald House Charities have
4545 14 provided more than 39,000 overnight stays for families who
4646 15 have children receiving medical care in Illinois; and
4747 16 WHEREAS, Ronald McDonald House Charities' Illinois-based
4848 17 programs continue to serve children and their families each
4949 18 year, providing support to nearly 15,400 children and families
5050 19 in 2023 alone; therefore, be it
