4	4	2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
5	5	3 Representatives wish to congratulate Ronald McDonald House
6	6	4 Charities on the occasion of its 50th anniversary and its
7	7	5 profound impact on Illinois; and
8	8	6 WHEREAS, Ronald McDonald House Charities' programs and
9	9	7 services have addressed the essential needs of families with
10	10	8 children who are ill or injured throughout the State of
11	11	9 Illinois; and
12	12	10 WHEREAS, The first Ronald McDonald House opened in
13	13	11 Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on October 15, 1974, and the second
14	14	12 Ronald McDonald House opened in Chicago in 1977; and
15	15	13 WHEREAS, Ronald McDonald House Charities has since grown
16	16	14 into a global organization that is active in 62 countries and
17	17	15 regions around the world with over 1,000 programs that provide
18	18	16 millions of families with support each year; and
19	19	17 WHEREAS, Illinois is home to Ronald McDonald House
20	20	18 Charities of Central Illinois and Ronald McDonald House
21	21	19 Charities of Chicagoland and Northwest Indiana, which operate
22	22	20 various houses, family rooms, care mobiles, and local programs
23	23	21 throughout the State, including the communities of

32	32	1 Springfield, Peoria, Chicago, Hines, Oak Lawn, and Winfield;

34	34	3 WHEREAS, Ronald McDonald House Charities' programs and
35	35	4 services assist in preserving families' finances, saving a
36	36	5 total of $736 million in lodging and meal expenses in 2023
37	37	6 alone; and
38	38	7 WHEREAS, Ronald McDonald House Charities supports programs
39	39	8 that directly improve the health and well-being of children
40	40	9 and their families throughout the State of Illinois; and
41	41	10 WHEREAS, McDonald's and its owners, operators, and
42	42	11 customers annually raise millions through initiatives that
43	43	12 encourage donations to Ronald McDonald House Charities; and
44	44	13 WHEREAS, Donations to Ronald McDonald House Charities have
45	45	14 provided more than 39,000 overnight stays for families who
46	46	15 have children receiving medical care in Illinois; and
47	47	16 WHEREAS, Ronald McDonald House Charities' Illinois-based
48	48	17 programs continue to serve children and their families each
49	49	18 year, providing support to nearly 15,400 children and families
50	50	19 in 2023 alone; therefore, be it
51	51	20 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE

62	62	1 HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
63	63	2 we congratulate Ronald McDonald House Charities on its 50th
64	64	3 anniversary, and we commend the organization for its
65	65	4 commitment to Illinois families and children in their times of
66	66	5 need; and be it further
67	67	6 RESOLVED, That we thank Ronald McDonald House Charities,
68	68	7 its partners, its employees, and its volunteers for their
69	69	8 dedication to providing a caring and compassionate environment
70	70	9 where families can rest, find support, and heal together, and
71	71	10 we wish the organization continued success in its mission; and
