11 | 11 | | 9 WHEREAS, After meeting her future husband at a dance, |

12 | 12 | | 10 Bernice Schmahl married Al Timmermann at her church on August |

13 | 13 | | 11 19, 1944; and |
---|
14 | 14 | | 12 WHEREAS, Seventy-five years ago in 1950, the Timmermanns |

15 | 15 | | 13 bought their first house on Thorndale in unincorporated Leyden |
---|
16 | 16 | | 14 Township; at that time, their new community was informally |
---|
17 | 17 | | 15 known as Mudville until it was incorporated as part of the new |
---|
18 | 18 | | 16 Village of Rosemont in 1956; and |
---|
19 | 19 | | 17 WHEREAS, As their first Rosemont house and homesite were |
---|
20 | 20 | | 18 taken over for construction of the new O'Hare International |
---|
21 | 21 | | 19 Airport, Bernice and Al Timmermann retained their connection |
---|
22 | 22 | | 20 to Rosemont by buying a lot on Scott Street; the house they |
---|
23 | 23 | | 21 built for themselves at that site is the house that Bernice |
---|

42 | 42 | | 11 WHEREAS, Bernice Timmermann had to frequently, for at |

43 | 43 | | 12 least one week in every calendar month, be on call to oversee |

44 | 44 | | 13 the telephone circuit and the radio frequency; and |

45 | 45 | | 14 WHEREAS, When on call, Bernice Timmermann blew the daily |

46 | 46 | | 15 fire siren, which was tested every day at 9:00 p.m.; and |

47 | 47 | | 16 WHEREAS, Bernice Timmermann also served as the president |

48 | 48 | | 17 of the North Leyden Fire Women's Auxiliary, where they had |

49 | 49 | | 18 bake sales and fire department dances to raise money to help |

50 | 50 | | 19 pay for the Rosemont's first fire truck; and |
