44 2 WHEREAS, Transgender, non-binary, and gender-expansive
55 3 youth and adults have always existed and are part of every
66 4 community in Illinois; they are parents, family members,
77 5 coworkers, teammates, neighbors, and friends; the trans
88 6 community is a beautiful tapestry, representing all racial and
99 7 ethnic backgrounds as well as all faith traditions; and
1010 8 WHEREAS, Transgender Day of Visibility is held annually on
1111 9 March 31st to celebrate the joy, resilience, and beauty of
1212 10 trans and non-binary people everywhere by elevating voices and
1313 11 experiences from these communities; and
1414 12 WHEREAS, Trans and non-binary people are welcome and
1515 13 protected in Illinois with the State's values of equality,
1616 14 inclusion, and fairness and beliefs in science, in following
1717 15 research, and in allowing medical decisions to be made between
1818 16 a patient and their health care providers; in Illinois, trans
1919 17 and non-binary people can also be their authentic selves in
2020 18 workplaces, public spaces, and schools; and
2121 19 WHEREAS, No Illinoisan should be rendered invisible merely
2222 20 by living their authentic lives; trans people who have chosen
2323 21 to be public servants, including Cook County Judge Jill Rose

4141 9 trailblazers and leaders, including Miss Major Griffin-Gracy,
4242 10 filmmaker and producer Lilly Wachowski, veteran and business
4343 11 leader Colonel Jennifer Pritzker, Equality Illinois Director
4444 12 of Communications Myles Brady Davis, hall-of-fame triathlete
4545 13 and six-time member of Team USA Chris Mosier, and the late
4646 14 community leader Elise Malary; and
4747 15 WHEREAS, Illinois is the birthplace of many historic trans
4848 16 individuals, including Albert Cashier who fought with bravery,
4949 17 courage, and patriotism as part of Illinois' 95th Regiment in
5050 18 the Battles of Atlanta, Vicksburg, and Natchez during the
5151 19 Civil War; and
5252 20 WHEREAS, Illinois is the home of many impactful trans-led
5353 21 organizations, including Brave Space Alliance, Chicago Therapy
5454 22 Collective, Life is Work, Transformative Justice Law Project
5555 23 of Illinois, and Trans Up Front Illinois; and

6666 1 WHEREAS, Anti-trans elected officials across the country
6767 2 and the current federal administration are attacking and
6868 3 attempting to erase transgender people from history; executive
6969 4 and legislative actions are trying to take away healthcare,
7070 5 education, and basic freedoms from trans people and to deny
7171 6 brave and patriotic trans people the opportunity to serve our
7272 7 country as part of the Armed Forces; trans people are also
7373 8 experiencing an epidemic of violence, particularly against
7474 9 Black and Brown trans women; and
7575 10 WHEREAS, It is imperative to represent, support, and
7676 11 protect trans and non-binary individuals who are part of the
7777 12 fabric of the State of Illinois; and
7878 13 WHEREAS, Today and every day, it is important to support
7979 14 all trans and non-binary people everywhere and to combat
8080 15 disinformation, discrimination, and hate impacting trans
8181 16 communities; therefore, be it
8282 17 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
8383 18 HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
8484 19 we celebrate Transgender Day of Visibility on March 31, 2025,
8585 20 and we commit ourselves to protecting, supporting, and
8686 21 affirming our trans and non-binary siblings and neighbors each
