1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives wish to congratulate Lonzo Greenwood on the
4 occasion of his retirement from the East St. Louis School
5 District #189 Board of Education; and
6 WHEREAS, Lonzo Greenwood was elected to the East St. Louis
7 School District #189 Board of Education in 1997 and has
8 continued his service through April of 2025; he served as
9 board president from November of 1997 to May 2, 2017, the
10 longest serving board president in consecutive years, and he
11 served as the board's vice president from April 30, 2019 to May
12 4, 2021; and
13 WHEREAS, Lonzo Greenwood served as the East St. Louis
14 Democratic Central Committee Chairman from 2012 to 2018; and
15 WHEREAS, Lonzo Greenwood has also held various positions
16 in local, county, and state government; and
17 WHEREAS, Lonzo Greenwood graduated from St. Louis
18 University Law School and is an attorney by trade; therefore,
19 be it

1 HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
2 we congratulate Lonzo Greenwood on his retirement from the
3 East St. Louis School District #189 Board of Education, and we
4 wish him the best in all of his future endeavours; and be it
5 further
6 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
7 presented to Lonzo Greenwood as a symbol of our respect and
8 esteem.
