1414 1 AN ACT concerning education.
1515 2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
1616 3 represented in the General Assembly:
1717 4 Section 1. This Act may be referred to as the School
1818 5 Curriculum Report for Transparency Law.
1919 6 Section 5. The School Code is amended by adding Sections
2020 7 10-20.88 and 34-18.88 as follows:
2121 8 (105 ILCS 5/10-20.88 new)
2222 9 Sec. 10-20.88. Curriculum report.
2323 10 (a) In this Section, "curriculum" includes the subjects
2424 11 used to teach the course and the books, media, and other
2525 12 learning materials used to teach the course.
2626 13 (b) Beginning with the 2025-2026 school year, the school
2727 14 board of each school district shall publicly report for each
2828 15 of the district's schools the following information in a
2929 16 prominent location on the district's website:
3030 17 (1) A list of the curriculum used in every course
3131 18 provided by the school that is to be used for student
3232 19 instruction during the school year. The list shall be
3333 20 organized, at a minimum, by grade level and subject area.
3434 21 (2) Any procedures that are in effect at the school

8080 3 (c) Under this Section, a school board shall provide
8181 4 updated information on the district's website at least one
8282 5 month prior to the start of each school semester and more
8383 6 frequently as the school board deems appropriate. A school
8484 7 board is required to report only the information that is
8585 8 necessary to identify the specific curriculum used for student
8686 9 instruction at each school.
8787 10 If a school board fails to post the information required
8888 11 under this subsection on its website, the State Board of
8989 12 Education shall issue a notice to the school board stating
9090 13 that the school board has one week after the notice has been
9191 14 issued to post the information before the State Board of
9292 15 Education begins imposing a civil penalty of $1,000 per day
9393 16 for each day the school board continues to fail to post the
9494 17 information. If the school board fails to post the information
9595 18 required under this subsection within one week after the
9696 19 notice has been issued, the State Board of Education shall
9797 20 impose on the school board a civil penalty of $1,000 per day
9898 21 for each day the school board continues to fail to post the
9999 22 information, pursuant to an administrative proceeding, and the
100100 23 Attorney General may bring an action in the circuit court to
101101 24 enforce collection.
102102 25 (d) Under this Section, a school district may, but is not

159159 11 this subsection on its website, the State Board of Education
160160 12 shall issue a notice to the board stating that the board has
161161 13 one week after the notice has been issued to post the
162162 14 information before the State Board of Education begins
163163 15 imposing a civil penalty of $1,000 per day for each day the
164164 16 board continues to fail to post the information. If the board
165165 17 fails to post the information required under this subsection

167167 19 Board of Education shall impose on the board a civil penalty of
