11	11	1 AN ACT concerning elections.
12	12	2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
13	13	3 represented in the General Assembly:
14	14	4 Section 5. The Election Code is amended by changing
15	15	5 Section 1-12 as follows:

17	17	7 Sec. 1-12. Public university voting.
18	18	8 (a) Each appropriate election authority shall, in addition
19	19	9 to the early voting conducted at locations otherwise required
20	20	10 by law, conduct early voting, grace period registration, and
21	21	11 grace period voting at the student union on the campus of a
22	22	12 public university within the election authority's
23	23	13 jurisdiction. The voting required by this subsection (a) to be
24	24	14 conducted on campus must be conducted from the 6th day before a
25	25	15 general primary or general election through until and
26	26	16 including the 4th day before a general primary or general
27	27	17 election from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 5 p.m., must be conducted on
28	28	18 the day of a general primary or general election from 6:00 a.m.
29	29	19 to 7:00 p.m., and must be conducted as otherwise required by
30	30	20 Article 19A of this Code. The , except that the voting required
31	31	21 by this subsection (a) need not be conducted during a
32	32	22 consolidated primary or consolidated election. If an election

69	69	2 jurisdiction, then the election authority shall extend early
70	70	3 voting and grace period registration and voting under this
71	71	4 Section to any registered voter in the election authority's
72	72	5 jurisdiction. However, if the election authority does not have
73	73	6 voting equipment that can accommodate a ballot in every form
74	74	7 required in the election authority's jurisdiction, then the
75	75	8 election authority may limit early voting and grace period
76	76	9 registration and voting under this Section to voters in
77	77	10 precincts where the public university is located and precincts
78	78	11 bordering the university. Each public university shall make
79	79	12 the space available at the student union for, and cooperate
80	80	13 and coordinate with the appropriate election authority in, the
81	81	14 implementation of this subsection (a).

83	83	16 (c) For the purposes of this Section, "public university"
84	84	17 means the University of Illinois, Illinois State University,
85	85	18 Chicago State University, Governors State University, Southern
86	86	19 Illinois University, Northern Illinois University, Eastern
87	87	20 Illinois University, Western Illinois University, and
88	88	21 Northeastern Illinois University.
89	89	22 (d) For the purposes of this Section, "student union"
90	90	23 means the Student Center at 750 S. Halsted on the University of
91	91	24 Illinois-Chicago campus; the Public Affairs Center at the
92	92	25 University of Illinois at Springfield or a new building
93	93	26 completed after the effective date of this Act housing student
