1111 1 AN ACT concerning local government.
1212 2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
1313 3 represented in the General Assembly:
1414 4 Section 5. The Township Code is amended by changing
1515 5 Section 30-205 as follows:

1717 7 Sec. 30-205. Advisory referenda. Any group of registered
1818 8 voters may request an advisory question of public policy
1919 9 pertaining to the statutory duties of townships under this
2020 10 Article for consideration by the electors at the annual
2121 11 meeting by giving written notice of the specific advisory
2222 12 question to the township clerk in the same manner as required
2323 13 for an agenda item under subsection (b) of Section 30-10. The
2424 14 agenda published by the township board shall include any such
2525 15 advisory question if the request is timely filed. By a vote of
2626 16 the majority of electors present at a town meeting, the
2727 17 electors may authorize that an advisory question of public
2828 18 policy pertaining to the statutory duties of townships under
2929 19 this Article, for which notice has been given as required by
3030 20 this Section, be placed on the ballot at the next regularly
3131 21 scheduled election in the township. The township board shall
3232 22 certify the question to the proper election officials, who
3333 23 shall submit the question in accordance with the general
