9 | 9 | | 2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, |

12 | 12 | | 5 amount as may be necessary, is appropriated from the General |

13 | 13 | | 6 Revenue Fund to the Department of Transportation for expenses |

14 | 14 | | 7 of planning, design, and environmental clearance of a new |

15 | 15 | | 8 electrified high-speed line designed for speeds in excess of |
---|
16 | 16 | | 9 186 miles per hour in relation to the Statewide Railway |

18 | 18 | | 11 Section 10. The amount of $230,000,000, or so much of that |

19 | 19 | | 12 amount as may be necessary, is appropriated from the General |

20 | 20 | | 13 Revenue Fund to the Department of Transportation for expenses |

21 | 21 | | 14 of capital improvements to railroad lines that currently host |
---|
22 | 22 | | 15 passenger trains, upgrades for existing railroad lines |
---|
23 | 23 | | 16 establish new passenger rail routes, or to new construct |
---|
24 | 24 | | 17 railroad lines to establish new passenger rail routes in |
---|
25 | 25 | | 18 relation to the Statewide Railway Program. Eligible expenses |
---|
26 | 26 | | 19 include: repairing, reconstructing, or building new railroad |
---|
27 | 27 | | 20 bridges; installing or modernizing overhead catenary for |
---|
28 | 28 | | 21 electrically powered trains; upgrading existing mainline |
---|
29 | 29 | | 22 tracks to FRA Class 4 standards or better; adding second or |
