1212 1 AN ACT concerning regulation.
1313 2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
1414 3 represented in the General Assembly:
1515 4 Section 5. The Illinois Athletic Trainers Practice Act is
1616 5 amended by adding Section 10.5 and by changing Section 12 as
1717 6 follows:
1818 7 (225 ILCS 5/10.5 new)
1919 8 Sec. 10.5. Notice of expiring license. The Department
2020 9 shall notify an athletic trainer at least 30 days before the
2121 10 expiration of his or her license that if he or she does not
2222 11 place the license into inactive status, he or she will be
2323 12 subject to the required fees to restore the license once it has
2424 13 expired.

2727 16 Sec. 12. Restoration of expired licenses. An athletic
2828 17 trainer who has permitted his or her license to expire or who
2929 18 has had his or her license on inactive status may have his or
3030 19 her license restored by making application to the Department
3131 20 and filing proof acceptable to the Department of his or her
3232 21 fitness to have his or her license restored, and by paying the
3333 22 required fees. If an athletic trainer's license has been

7070 1 expired for no longer than 5 years, the athletic trainer was
7171 2 practicing in another jurisdiction during the period of
7272 3 expiration, and the athletic trainer furnishes to the
7373 4 Department an affidavit to that effect, then the Department
7474 5 shall waive any restoration fee or lapsed renewal fee for
7575 6 restoration of that license. Proof of fitness may include
7676 7 sworn evidence certifying active lawful practice in another
7777 8 jurisdiction.
7878 9 If the athletic trainer has not maintained an active
7979 10 practice in another jurisdiction satisfactory to the
8080 11 Department, the Department shall determine, by an evaluation
8181 12 program established by rule, his or her fitness for
8282 13 restoration of the license and shall establish procedures and
8383 14 requirements for restoration.
8484 15 Any athletic trainer whose license has been expired for
8585 16 more than 5 years may have his or her license restored by
8686 17 making application to the Department and filing proof
8787 18 acceptable to the Department of his or her fitness to have his
8888 19 or her license restored, including sworn evidence certifying
8989 20 to active practice in another jurisdiction and by paying the
9090 21 required restoration fee. However, any athletic trainer whose
9191 22 license has expired while he or she has been engaged (1) in the
9292 23 federal service in active duty with the Army of the United
9393 24 States, the United States Navy, the Marine Corps, the Air
9494 25 Force, the Coast Guard, or the State Militia called into the
9595 26 service or training of the United States of America, or (2) in
