12	12	1 AN ACT concerning regulation.
13	13	2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
14	14	3 represented in the General Assembly:
15	15	4 Section 5. The Hospital Licensing Act is amended by adding
16	16	5 Section 6.35 as follows:
17	17	6 (210 ILCS 85/6.35 new)
18	18	7 Sec. 6.35. Labor and delivery billing disclosures. A
19	19	8 hospital shall provide the following to a patient within 30
20	20	9 days after discharge for labor and delivery services:
21	21	10 (1) an itemized list of each of the services for which
22	22	11 the patient will be billed;
23	23	12 (2) the dollar amount owed by the patient for each
24	24	13 service;
25	25	14 (3) the dollar amount paid by insurance for each
26	26	15 service; and
27	27	16 (4) a checklist updating the patient or the patient's
28	28	17 health care provider on what has or has not been paid.
29	29	18 Section 10. The University of Illinois Hospital Act is
30	30	19 amended by adding Section 8k as follows:
