| 6 | 6 | | 4 Anthony William "Tony" Gilman and his love for his country; |

| 8 | 8 | | 6 WHEREAS, SPC Gilman, son of Fred and Mary Gilman, was born |

| 9 | 9 | | 7 in Jerseyville on January 22, 1976; and |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | 8 WHEREAS, SPC Gilman grew up in Calhoun County and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | 9 graduated from Calhoun High School in 1994; and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | 10 WHEREAS, SPC Gilman enjoyed hunting and fishing throughout |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | 11 Calhoun County and Pike County; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | 12 WHEREAS, SPC Gilman decided to enlist in the U.S. Army in |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | 13 1997, eventually rising to the rank of specialist; and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | 14 WHEREAS, SPC Gilman lost his life on July 4, 1999 during a |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | 15 peacekeeping mission in Kosovo, becoming the first American |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | 16 casualty during the peacekeeping mission in Kosovo; and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | 17 WHEREAS, The County of Calhoun is honoring the life and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | 18 sacrifice of SPC Gilman on Memorial Day 2025; therefore, be it |
