1  SENATE RESOLUTION
2  WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3  to learn of the death of Ray A. Young of Cambridge, who passed
4  away on November 22, 2024; and
5  WHEREAS, Ray Young, the son of Marion A. and Violet G.
6  Howard Young, was born in Gamaliel, Arkansas on December 29,
7  1928; he served as an infantry rifleman in the U. S. Army in
8  Korea from 1950 to 1953; he married Isabelle Kapple at
9  Cambridge United Methodist Church on November 1, 1958, and she
10  preceded him in death on February 5, 2021; and
11  WHEREAS, Ray Young worked as a farmhand in rural Cambridge
12  before becoming a tractor-trailer driver for Johnson Brothers
13  for four years and then for Red Swanson for four years; he
14  worked as a mechanic at Rishel & Son Implement in Cambridge for
15  nine years; he then became supervisor of environmental
16  services at the Henry County Courthouse for 23 years, retiring
17  in 2001; and
18  WHEREAS, Ray Young was a member of Cambridge United
19  Methodist Church and the former Cambridge American Legion Post
20  No. 417, and he enjoyed traveling and woodworking; and
21  WHEREAS, Ray Young was preceded in death by his parents;

1  five brothers; a sister; his grandmother, Mary Howard; and his
2  uncle, Eldon Howard; and
3  WHEREAS, Ray Young is survived by his daughter, Lori (Ed)
4  Dole, and his sisters, Louise Fix and Ada Shain; therefore, be
5  it
6  RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL
7  ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
8  Ray A. Young and extend our sincere condolences to his family,
9  friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further
