1  SENATE RESOLUTION
2  WHEREAS, March 20th has been designated as International
3  Francophonie Day to celebrate the diversity, richness, and
4  contributions of the French-speaking world; and
5  WHEREAS, Illinois is home to a vibrant and growing
6  population of French-speaking residents who contribute to the
7  social, cultural, and economic fabric of our state; and
8  WHEREAS, French is one of the official languages of
9  Illinois and has deep historical ties through both our
10  educational institutions and global diplomatic and business
11  relations; and
12  WHEREAS, The global Francophonie community includes over
13  300 million people across five continents who are united by a
14  shared commitment to cultural diversity, human rights, and the
15  promotion of peace; and
16  WHEREAS, The French language and culture have shaped
17  Illinois through literature, art, cuisine, architecture, and
18  historical connections that continue to enrich our
19  communities; and
20  WHEREAS, It is important to foster an inclusive

2  valued, and empowered in their personal, professional, and
3  educational pursuits and for Illinois employers to consider
4  hiring French-speaking individuals and provide support to help
5  them integrate effectively into the workforce; therefore, be
6  it
7  RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL
8  ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we declare March 20,
9  2025 as Francophonie Day in the State of Illinois; and be it
