4	4	2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
5	5	3 to learn of the death of Meghan Lynn Harmon of Divernon,
6	6	4 formerly of Litchfield, who passed away on January 26, 2025;
7	7	5 and
8	8	6 WHEREAS, Meghan Harmon was born in Springfield to Robert
9	9	7 Joseph and Beth (Hermsmeyer) Harmon on December 22, 1983; she
10	10	8 graduated from Litchfield High School in 2002 and earned
11	11	9 several degrees, including an Associate Degree in Secondary
12	12	10 Education from Lincoln Land Community College in 2004, a
13	13	11 Bachelor of Arts in English in 2006 and a Master of Arts in
14	14	12 English in 2008, both from the University of Illinois
15	15	13 Springfield, and a Master of Science in Library and
16	16	14 Information Science in 2012 from the University of Illinois
17	17	15 Urbana-Champaign; she married Greg Bishop in Springfield on
18	18	16 September 17, 2015; and
19	19	17 WHEREAS, Meghan Harmon taught young adults English and
20	20	18 humanities as an adjunct professor at Lincoln Land Community
21	21	19 College; she then served as the local history and genealogy
22	22	20 reference librarian at the Chatham Area Public Library
23	23	21 District before taking the position of reference librarian at
24	24	22 the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum, where she
25	25	23 earned the nickname "Megstar"; she then worked for the

34	34	1 Illinois Secretary of State at the Illinois State Library as a
35	35	2 library program specialist; and
36	36	3 WHEREAS, Meghan Harmon had a passion for books, and she
37	37	4 conducted professional presentations about rare manuscripts
38	38	5 and how the public can access a wealth of information from
39	39	6 their local and state libraries; she was involved in the
40	40	7 Friends of the Chatham Area Public Library, volunteering and
41	41	8 performing in a decade's worth of murder mystery fundraisers;
42	42	9 she also enjoyed bonding with her fellow honors students as
43	43	10 part of the International College Honor Society Phi Theta
44	44	11 Kappa; and
45	45	12 WHEREAS, Meghan Harmon enjoyed traveling with her husband;
46	46	13 they made four trips to Iceland, hiked 10 miles of the Alaska
47	47	14 wilderness, toured many of the national parks in the
48	48	15 southwest, and explored some of nature's most amazing caves;
49	49	16 they also enjoyed concerts, dinners, game nights with close
50	50	17 friends, and holidays with family; when she was not busy
51	51	18 training for a foot race, kayaking with her husband, or taking
52	52	19 in arts and culture, she enjoyed home renovation projects; and
53	53	20 WHEREAS, Meghan Harmon was preceded in death by her
54	54	21 maternal grandparents, Carl and Joyce (Satterlee) Hermsmeyer,
55	55	22 and paternal grandfather, William Harmon; and

66	66	1 WHEREAS, Meghan Harmon is survived by her husband, Greg;
67	67	2 her parents; her brother, Kyle R. Harmon; her paternal
68	68	3 grandmother, Margaret Harmon; her four-legged daughter figure,
69	69	4 Pause the Cat; the Honors Girls, Biz, Adrienne, Tiffer, and
70	70	5 Meesa; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and
71	71	6 nephews; therefore, be it
72	72	7 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL
73	73	8 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
74	74	9 Meghan Lynn Harmon and extend our sincere condolences to her
75	75	10 family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
