1  SENATE RESOLUTION
2  WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3  to learn of the death of Charles G. "Chuck" Bloomberg of
4  Springfield, who passed away on January 19, 2025; and
5  WHEREAS, Chuck Bloomberg was born in Moline to John Arthur
6  and Gunhild Ruth (Swanson) Bloomberg on July 21, 1943 and grew
7  up in rural Lynn Center; he attended the University of
8  Illinois, where he was a member of the Alpha Gamma Rho
9  fraternity; he married Kathleen Lohman at First Presbyterian
10  Church in Springfield on August 30, 1986; and
11  WHEREAS, Chuck Bloomberg spent his career in agriculture;
12  his roles included Assistant Director of the Illinois
13  Department of Agriculture, the first Executive Vice President
14  of the Illinois Pork Producers, and head of the Illinois Beef
15  Council; in his later years, he loved his vocation as a cattle
16  order buyer; and
17  WHEREAS, Chuck Bloomberg was proud of his Swedish heritage
18  was of the Lutheran faith; he was a staunch supporter of the
19  Illini; and
20  WHEREAS, Chuck Bloomberg was preceded in death by his
21  parents and his sister, Barbara Roark; and

1  WHEREAS, Chuck Bloomberg is survived by his wife,
2  Kathleen; his children, Jon (Sandy Firestone), Brent (DeAnne),
3  and Emily Reyes (Tom Birch); his grandchildren, Allison (Alex)
4  Lybarger, Carson (Nada) Bloomberg, and Mitchell, Jon, and
5  Hannah Reyes; his great-granddaughter, Ava; one great-grandson
6  on the way; his sister, Susan (Eugene) Stropes; his in-laws,
7  Richard and Christine Jackson; his former wife, Sonja Swanson
8  Solberg; and many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
9  RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL
10  ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
11  Charles G. "Chuck" Bloomberg and extend our sincere
12  condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved
13  him; and be it further
