44 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
55 3 to learn of the death of Lenora "Nancy" Abraham Eaddy; and
66 4 WHEREAS, Lenora Eaddy was born to Florence Mae Cain
77 5 Abraham and Jimmie "Rooster" Abraham in Florence County, South
88 6 Carolina on September 7, 1957; she was raised in the Claussen
99 7 community and attended the public schools of Florence County,
1010 8 graduating from South Florence High School at the age of 16;
1111 9 during her youth, she was an avid softball player and a
1212 10 cherished member of her community team; she later married
1313 11 Emmit "Joe" Eaddy Jr. on February 5, 1977; and
1414 12 WHEREAS, Lenora Eaddy worked in Florence School District 5
1515 13 in South Carolina, where she focused on special needs students
1616 14 until her retirement in 1997; during her career, she was noted
1717 15 for her unwavering dedication to helping students, especially
1818 16 those facing challenges; she also served as a poll worker with
1919 17 the Florence County Election Commission for over 20 years; and
2020 18 WHEREAS, Lenora Eaddy was deeply involved in civic and
2121 19 community organizations, including serving as worthy matron
2222 20 and treasurer of the Kingsburg Chapter #182 Order of the
2323 21 Eastern Star, Johnsonville, South Carolina, associate deputy
2424 22 of District 9, along with other roles within the district and

3333 1 local chapter, and treasurer of the Lady Double Dozen Social
3434 2 Club; she actively volunteered at the Pee Dee Center of
3535 3 Disability and Special Needs and was a devoted member of the
3636 4 National Association for the Advancement of Colored People and
3737 5 the National Council of Negro Women; and
3838 6 WHEREAS, Lenora Eaddy committed to her faith at an early
3939 7 age, joining Salem United Methodist Church in Florence, South
4040 8 Carolina, where she was a choir member and also sang with the
4141 9 group, Charity, through which she met her husband; she later
4242 10 joined St. Mark African Methodist Episcopal Church in
4343 11 Johnsonville, South Carolina, where she served in numerous
4444 12 roles until her health declined, including the Inspirational
4545 13 Mass Choir, the Safronia Jessie Adlee (SJA) Women's Missionary
4646 14 Society, and the St. Mark African Methodist Episcopal Outreach
4747 15 Food Ministry; she also served as an advisor to the St. Mark
4848 16 Young People's and Children's Division, a member of the Pulpit
4949 17 Aide Ministry, chairperson of the Stewardess Board, a member
5050 18 of the Steward Board, assistant finance secretary, co-chair of
5151 19 the Acolyte Ministry, and coordinator of the St. Mark Event;

5353 21 WHEREAS, Lenora Eaddy's life was a testament to love,
5454 22 faith, and service, and her legacy of kindness, dedication,
5555 23 and community spirit will continue to inspire all who knew

7171 5 years, Emmit Eaddy Jr.; her daughter, Jotaka Latrice Eaddy;

7373 7 Shakira Hicks and Seven Zephania Sumpter; her honorary
7474 8 grandson, Moyer McCoy; her brothers, Alexander Abraham and

7676 10 brother-in-law, Ola Mae McFadden, Elois (Gerody Sr.)
7777 11 Boatwright, and Rayford Eaddy; her nephew and niece she had
7878 12 raised as her own, Lamont Abraham and Tamika (Sammy)
7979 13 Woodberry-McCormick; her special great-niece, Hailey Mae
8080 14 Abraham; her special great-grandniece, Paisley Woodberry; her
8181 15 nephews, Barry (Laura) McFadden, Rodney Boatwright, Cedric
8282 16 (Maretta) Abraham, and Randy Boatwright; her nieces, Tammy
8383 17 McFadden, Fredericka (Frank) Commedo, LaKeisha Eaddy, Sonya
8484 18 McFadden, and Natasha Abraham; her godmother, Susie "Boo"
