4	4	2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
5	5	3 to learn of the death of Lenora "Nancy" Abraham Eaddy; and
6	6	4 WHEREAS, Lenora Eaddy was born to Florence Mae Cain
7	7	5 Abraham and Jimmie "Rooster" Abraham in Florence County, South
8	8	6 Carolina on September 7, 1957; she was raised in the Claussen
9	9	7 community and attended the public schools of Florence County,
10	10	8 graduating from South Florence High School at the age of 16;
11	11	9 during her youth, she was an avid softball player and a
12	12	10 cherished member of her community team; she later married
13	13	11 Emmit "Joe" Eaddy Jr. on February 5, 1977; and
14	14	12 WHEREAS, Lenora Eaddy worked in Florence School District 5
15	15	13 in South Carolina, where she focused on special needs students
16	16	14 until her retirement in 1997; during her career, she was noted
17	17	15 for her unwavering dedication to helping students, especially
18	18	16 those facing challenges; she also served as a poll worker with
19	19	17 the Florence County Election Commission for over 20 years; and
20	20	18 WHEREAS, Lenora Eaddy was deeply involved in civic and
21	21	19 community organizations, including serving as worthy matron
22	22	20 and treasurer of the Kingsburg Chapter #182 Order of the
23	23	21 Eastern Star, Johnsonville, South Carolina, associate deputy
24	24	22 of District 9, along with other roles within the district and

33	33	1 local chapter, and treasurer of the Lady Double Dozen Social
34	34	2 Club; she actively volunteered at the Pee Dee Center of
35	35	3 Disability and Special Needs and was a devoted member of the
36	36	4 National Association for the Advancement of Colored People and
37	37	5 the National Council of Negro Women; and
38	38	6 WHEREAS, Lenora Eaddy committed to her faith at an early
39	39	7 age, joining Salem United Methodist Church in Florence, South
40	40	8 Carolina, where she was a choir member and also sang with the
41	41	9 group, Charity, through which she met her husband; she later
42	42	10 joined St. Mark African Methodist Episcopal Church in
43	43	11 Johnsonville, South Carolina, where she served in numerous
44	44	12 roles until her health declined, including the Inspirational
45	45	13 Mass Choir, the Safronia Jessie Adlee (SJA) Women's Missionary
46	46	14 Society, and the St. Mark African Methodist Episcopal Outreach
47	47	15 Food Ministry; she also served as an advisor to the St. Mark
48	48	16 Young People's and Children's Division, a member of the Pulpit
49	49	17 Aide Ministry, chairperson of the Stewardess Board, a member
50	50	18 of the Steward Board, assistant finance secretary, co-chair of
51	51	19 the Acolyte Ministry, and coordinator of the St. Mark Event;
52	52	20 and
53	53	21 WHEREAS, Lenora Eaddy's life was a testament to love,
54	54	22 faith, and service, and her legacy of kindness, dedication,
55	55	23 and community spirit will continue to inspire all who knew

70	70	4 WHEREAS, Lenora Eaddy is survived by her husband of 47
71	71	5 years, Emmit Eaddy Jr.; her daughter, Jotaka Latrice Eaddy;
72	72	6 her stepson, Fitzgerald "JJ" Sumpter; her grandchildren,
73	73	7 Shakira Hicks and Seven Zephania Sumpter; her honorary
74	74	8 grandson, Moyer McCoy; her brothers, Alexander Abraham and
75	75	9 Rev. Ebbie (Doris) Abraham; her sisters-in-law and
76	76	10 brother-in-law, Ola Mae McFadden, Elois (Gerody Sr.)
77	77	11 Boatwright, and Rayford Eaddy; her nephew and niece she had
78	78	12 raised as her own, Lamont Abraham and Tamika (Sammy)
79	79	13 Woodberry-McCormick; her special great-niece, Hailey Mae
80	80	14 Abraham; her special great-grandniece, Paisley Woodberry; her
81	81	15 nephews, Barry (Laura) McFadden, Rodney Boatwright, Cedric
82	82	16 (Maretta) Abraham, and Randy Boatwright; her nieces, Tammy
