4	4	2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
5	5	3 to learn of the death of Donald W. "Don" Irish, who passed away
6	6	4 on February 18, 2025; and
7	7	5 WHEREAS, Don Irish was born in Peoria, the second of two
8	8	6 sons born to Thomas and Marvel (Skiles) Irish, on June 8, 1933;
9	9	7 he served with the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War; and
10	10	8 WHEREAS, Don Irish married the love of his life, Carol
11	11	9 Lovin, on February 8, 1953, and together, they built a strong
12	12	10 and loving family in Peoria's West Bluff neighborhood near the
13	13	11 campus of Bradley University; and
14	14	12 WHEREAS, Don Irish pursued a career as a meat cutter and
15	15	13 store manager following his military service, before joining
16	16	14 Caterpillar, where he served as a traffic management
17	17	15 specialist and accounts payable manager; and
18	18	16 WHEREAS, Don Irish was a man of strong faith and an active
19	19	17 member of the United Presbyterian Church of Peoria, where he
20	20	18 found spiritual fulfillment and community; and
21	21	19 WHEREAS, Don Irish was an avid golfer and achieved the
22	22	20 remarkable feat of three holes-in-one throughout his lifetime;

32	32	2 WHEREAS, Don Irish was a dedicated and passionate fan of
33	33	3 the Chicago Cubs and the Bradley University men's basketball
34	34	4 team, sharing his love for sports with family and friends,
35	35	5 oftentimes spending his afternoons getting sandwiches and
36	36	6 watching the game; and
37	37	7 WHEREAS, Don Irish's kindness, dedication, and unwavering
38	38	8 love for his family and community will forever be remembered
39	39	9 by those whose lives he touched; and
40	40	10 WHEREAS, Don Irish was preceded in death by his parents;
41	41	11 his brother, Terrance Irish; and one grandson; and
42	42	12 WHEREAS, Don Irish is survived by his wife of 72 years,
43	43	13 Carol; his children, Thomas (Gloria) Irish, David (Lynda)
44	44	14 Irish, Michael (Kelly) Irish, and Leanne (Brad) Dunn; 10
45	45	15 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren; therefore, be it
46	46	16 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL
47	47	17 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
48	48	18 Donald W. "Don" Irish and extend our sincere condolences to
49	49	19 his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
