3	3	1 SENATE RESOLUTION
4	4	2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
5	5	3 to learn of the death of Deanna "Dee" Dean Funk, who passed
6	6	4 away on January 25, 2025; and
7	7	5 WHEREAS, Deanna Funk was born to John Lewis Dean and Faye
8	8	6 Jenny Winslow Dean in Akron, Ohio on March 21, 1939; she
9	9	7 received her Bachelor of Arts in Speech Pathology from
10	10	8 Northwestern University in 1961; she married Donald Hay Funk,
11	11	9 and they eventually moved to Springfield; and
12	12	10 WHEREAS, Deanna Funk was a devoted housewife and mother of
13	13	11 two who opened her own art business, specializing in
14	14	12 needlepoint, embroidery, fabric dyeing, and various other
15	15	13 artistic techniques; she traveled to showcase her work,
16	16	14 passionately sharing her techniques and insights with others,
17	17	15 always eager to inspire those who wanted to learn; and
18	18	16 WHEREAS, Deanna Funk was a member of the Westminster
19	19	17 Presbyterian Church; she was also a member of the Junior
20	20	18 League, the Anti-Rust Club, Questers, the Abraham Lincoln
21	21	19 Association, and the Embroiders Guild of America; she was a
22	22	20 longstanding member of the Springfield Art Association, where
23	23	21 she dedicated her time to volunteering due to being driven by
24	24	22 her passion for artwork and her desire to inspire others; and

33	33	1 WHEREAS, Deanna Funk considered being a grandmother her
34	34	2 greatest accomplishment, and she was affectionately known as
35	35	3 "Nana"; she always made it a priority to be there for her
36	36	4 family; and
37	37	5 WHEREAS, Deanna Funk had many passion projects and hobbies
38	38	6 that she taught and passed down to her grandchildren,
39	39	7 including art and genealogy; and
40	40	8 WHEREAS, Deanna Funk was preceded in death by her parents;
41	41	9 her husband of 61 years, Donald; and her brother, John
42	42	10 Franklin Dean; and
43	43	11 WHEREAS, Deanna Funk is survived by her children, Anne
44	44	12 Funk and Donald (Layna) Funk; two granddaughters; her niece
45	45	13 and nephew, Michelle (Michael Borenstein) and John Dean; her
46	46	14 sister-in-law, Jeanne Dean; and many grandnieces and
47	47	15 grandnephews; therefore, be it
48	48	16 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL
49	49	17 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
50	50	18 Deanna "Dee" Dean Funk and extend our sincere condolences to
51	51	19 her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
