1 SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3 to learn of the death of Patricia Jean "Pat" (McFarlane)
4 Harris, who passed away on February 19, 2025; and
5 WHEREAS, Pat Harris was born to James and Mona McFarlane
6 in Cleveland, Ohio on July 3, 1933; the second oldest of nine,
7 she learned patience and diplomacy at an early age; she
8 married Warren Arthur Harris in 1961, which was the start of a
9 54 year partnership full of love and laughter, and they raised
10 five strong and spirited daughters, who were all born between
11 1962 and 1968; and
12 WHEREAS, Pat Harris was a beloved daughter, sister, aunt,
13 wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend who
14 was also a devoted member of her Universalist Unitarian Church
15 family; and
16 WHEREAS, Pat Harris was gifted at bringing people
17 together, offering wisdom, whether solicited or not, and
18 making sure no one left a conversation without a smile; she
19 touched countless lives; and
20 WHEREAS, Pat Harris was devoted to her family, and she
21 treasured every moment she spent with them, whether

1 celebrating milestones or simply enjoying each other's
2 company; and
3 WHEREAS, Pat Harris was preceded in death by her husband;
4 her parents; six siblings; four nephews; and her son-in-law,
5 Matthew Allen; and
6 WHEREAS, Pat Harris is survived by her daughters, Margaret
7 (Bill) Schmider, Kathleen (Tom) Hafele, Joan (Shannon) Walden,
8 Elizabeth (Matthew) Allen, and Michelle (Troy) Adams; 12
9 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; her youngest sister and
10 brother, Elaine (Spanky) McFarlane and Michael (Sheila)
11 McFarlane; and numerous nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
12 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL
13 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
14 Patricia Jean "Pat" (McFarlane) Harris and extend our sincere
15 condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved
16 her; and be it further
17 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18 presented to the family of Pat Harris as an expression of our
19 deepest sympathy.
