9 | 9 | | 7 require travel of over 25 miles from pick-up to drop-off |

10 | 10 | | 8 locations, and being denied access to public transportation in |

11 | 11 | | 9 these areas could be the difference between life and death; |

13 | 13 | | 11 WHEREAS, There are many counties in Illinois that are the |

14 | 14 | | 12 single provider of public transportation, making it the only |

15 | 15 | | 13 reliable option for residents in a given county; and |

16 | 16 | | 14 WHEREAS, The Downstate Operating Assistance Program (DOAP) |

17 | 17 | | 15 covers only 65% of eligible operating costs, while the county |

18 | 18 | | 16 is required to contribute 35% of the operating costs, putting |

19 | 19 | | 17 an undue burden on single county providers; therefore, be it |

20 | 20 | | 18 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL |
