| 4 | 4 | | 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened |

| 5 | 5 | | 3 to learn of the death of Stephen A. "Steve" Pellegrini of |

| 6 | 6 | | 4 Springfield, who passed away on March 6, 2025; and |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | 5 WHEREAS, Steve Pellegrini, the son of Angelo J. and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | 6 Albertine P. (Maton) Pellegrini, was born in Taylorville on |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | 7 August 31, 1950; he graduated from Stephen Decatur High |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | 8 School; he served in the U.S. Marine Corps in Vietnam from 1968 |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | 9 to 1972; during his service, he also provided security detail |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | 10 in coordination with the Secret Service to protect President |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | 11 Richard Nixon; he received his bachelor's degree in political |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | 12 science from Eastern Illinois University; he married Beth Ann |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | 13 Flener on August 12, 2014; and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | 14 WHEREAS, Steve Pellegrini worked as a detective with the |

| 17 | 17 | | 15 Springfield Police Department for 30 years, retiring in 2010; |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | 16 during his law enforcement career, he also served under |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | 17 special assignments for the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA); and |

| 20 | 20 | | 18 WHEREAS, Steve Pellegrini was a member of the Police |

| 21 | 21 | | 19 Benevolent & Protective Association of Illinois for many |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | 20 years; and |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | 21 WHEREAS, Steve Pellegrini was an avid fan of the Chicago |

| 41 | 41 | | 10 Mahalia Davis) Ross; his siblings, Lynne (Ray) Padovan and |

| 42 | 42 | | 11 Greg (Deb) Pellegrini; his sister-in-law, Debi (Tim) Marker; |

| 43 | 43 | | 12 and several nieces and nephews; therefore, be it |
