44 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
55 3 to learn of the death of John H. "Jack" Long of Springfield,
66 4 who passed away on March 9, 2025; and
77 5 WHEREAS, Jack Long was born in Jacksonville to Walter
88 6 Myron and Kathleen Vortman Long on September 29, 1939; he
99 7 served in the U.S. Army; he married Rosemarie Feleccia on
1010 8 August 10, 1963; and
1111 9 WHEREAS, Jack Long was a bricklayer and worked for
1212 10 Pillsbury; he retired from the State of Illinois as a
1313 11 stationary engineer; he also served as the assessor for
1414 12 Springfield Township from 1993 to 2009; and
1515 13 WHEREAS, Jack Long's passion was spending time playing
1616 14 golf with his friends and family; he was also an avid sports
1717 15 fan, and his favorite teams were the St. Louis Cardinals and
1818 16 the St. Louis Rams; he was also a University of Illinois fan
1919 17 and enjoyed watching games with his family and friends; he was
2020 18 a coach for the Dale Teubner Memorial Little League and 5th and
2121 19 6th grade basketball at St. Cabrini; he also was a major
2222 20 supporter of Williamsville girls softball and loved watching
2323 21 his two youngest granddaughters pitch; and

3232 1 WHEREAS, Jack Long was preceded in death by his wife,
3333 2 Rosemarie; his parents; and his sister, Connie Esslinger; and
3434 3 WHEREAS, Jack Long is survived by his sons, Brad (Laura)
3535 4 and Brian (Lori) Long; his grandchildren, Valerie Scheina,
3636 5 Anthony Long, Feleshia (Cole) Childress, Hayley Long (Jesse De
3737 6 Castro), and Payton Long; his great-grandchildren, Cassidy
3838 7 Scheina, Bella Scheina, Bryleigh Rose Scheina, Walter
3939 8 Childress, and an additional great-grandchild due in June; his
4040 9 brother, Larry Long; his sisters-in-law, Mary Choate and Betty
4141 10 (Thomas) Blasko; his brother-in-law, Thomas (Toni) Feleccia;
4242 11 and several nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
4343 12 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL
4444 13 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
4545 14 John H. "Jack" Long and extend our sincere condolences to his
4646 15 family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
4747 16 further
4848 17 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
4949 18 presented to the family of Jack Long as an expression of our
5050 19 deepest sympathy.
