44 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to
55 3 recognize the Eta Alpha Chapter of Iota Phi Lambda Sorority,
66 4 Inc. on being chartered as a newly established chapter; and
77 5 WHEREAS, Iota Phi Lambda Sorority, Inc., founded by
88 6 visionary Mrs. Dr. Mary H. Bradford in Chicago in 1929, is a
99 7 premier African American women's organization committed to
1010 8 improving the social, political, and economic welfare of
1111 9 African American women and their communities through
1212 10 innovative programs in areas of educational advancement,
1313 11 professional development, and service; and
1414 12 WHEREAS, Iota Phi Lambda Sorority, Inc., since its
1515 13 inception, has been dedicated to promoting education,
1616 14 leadership, and service, particularly within the African
1717 15 American community, and the sorority's mission is to provide
1818 16 opportunities for professional development, cultural
1919 17 enrichment, and community service, while inspiring and
2020 18 empowering women of all ages to live their lives with purpose,
2121 19 passion, and integrity; and
2222 20 WHEREAS, The Eta Alpha Chapter of Iota Phi Lambda
2323 21 Sorority, Inc. was chartered in Fairview Heights on June 15,

3737 5 Brinson, Sylvia Morris, Deborah Sanlin, Tawny Brown, Utica
3838 6 Morris, Mildred Stewart Simmons, Annette Cannaway-Hudson,
3939 7 Frieda Morris-Williams, Erika Swaringen-Blankumsee, Sherri
4040 8 Gaskin, Elizabeth Morrow, Ophelia Phillips, Leslie Tolliver,
4141 9 Esq., Jamie Walker-Sallis, Jordan Hudson, Jacqueline Ploudre,
4242 10 and Toi Williams; and
4343 11 WHEREAS, The Eta Alpha Chapter remains committed to Iota
4444 12 Phi Lambda Sorority, Inc.'s mission; through leadership,
4545 13 scholarship, and commitment to excellence, the chapter seeks
4646 14 to empower women to take charge of their destiny and achieve
4747 15 greatness; therefore, be it
4848 16 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL
4949 17 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we recognize the Eta
5050 18 Alpha Chapter of Iota Phi Lambda Sorority, Inc. on being
5151 19 chartered as a newly established chapter, and we commend its
5252 20 founding members for their efforts; and be it further
5353 21 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
5454 22 presented to the Eta Alpha Chapter as an expression of our
