44 2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
55 3 to learn of the death of Robert A. "Bob" Peickert, who passed
66 4 away on March 5, 2025; and
77 5 WHEREAS, Robert Peickert, the son of Charles and Alvera
88 6 Peickert, was born in Chicago on December 5, 1944; and
99 7 WHEREAS, Robert Peickert worked as a math teacher and a
1010 8 union official with the Illinois Federation of Teachers (IFT),
1111 9 utilizing his pugnacity in contract negotiations; after the
1212 10 fall of the Berlin Wall, he was sent as a union representative
1313 11 to Poland, where he helped establish U.S.-style trade unions
1414 12 for the teachers there; and
1515 13 WHEREAS, Robert Peickert was the former chair of the
1616 14 Democratic Party of DuPage County (DPDC) from 2008 through the
1717 15 2018 elections; during his tenure, he was noted for his
1818 16 dedication, leading the organization with heart and vision and
1919 17 serving as an ally and mentor to many; he spearheaded
2020 18 Operation: Turn DuPage Blue and dramatically increased the
2121 19 ranks of elected precinct committeepersons across the county;
2222 20 his guidance helped elect three Democrats to the DuPage County
2323 21 Board in 2008 and seven in 2018; he also oversaw a number of
2424 22 successful fundraisers and gala events; after stepping down in

3333 1 early 2019, he continued to be involved as a precinct
3434 2 committeeperson in York and as a member of the DPDC Executive
3535 3 Committee; he was also the former vice president of the
3636 4 Illinois Democratic County Chairs' Association (IDCCA); and
3737 5 WHEREAS, Robert Peickert was known for his confidence,
3838 6 perseverance, and generosity; he was a passionate leader who
3939 7 made a lasting impact on DuPage County; and
4040 8 WHEREAS, Robert Peickert was the husband of the late
4141 9 Patricia L. Peickert (Tribbensee); the father of Robert J.
4242 10 Peickert, Sue (Paul) Phillips, and Judy (Frank) Porch; the
4343 11 grandfather of five; the great-grandfather of three; and the
4444 12 brother of the late James Peickert and Alexis Castellano;
4545 13 therefore, be it
4646 14 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL
4747 15 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
4848 16 Robert A. "Bob" Peickert and extend our sincere condolences to
4949 17 his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
5050 18 further
5151 19 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
5252 20 presented to the family of Robert Peickert as an expression of
5353 21 our deepest sympathy.
