4	4	2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
5	5	3 to learn of the death of Robert A. "Bob" Peickert, who passed
6	6	4 away on March 5, 2025; and
7	7	5 WHEREAS, Robert Peickert, the son of Charles and Alvera
8	8	6 Peickert, was born in Chicago on December 5, 1944; and
9	9	7 WHEREAS, Robert Peickert worked as a math teacher and a
10	10	8 union official with the Illinois Federation of Teachers (IFT),
11	11	9 utilizing his pugnacity in contract negotiations; after the
12	12	10 fall of the Berlin Wall, he was sent as a union representative
13	13	11 to Poland, where he helped establish U.S.-style trade unions
14	14	12 for the teachers there; and
15	15	13 WHEREAS, Robert Peickert was the former chair of the
16	16	14 Democratic Party of DuPage County (DPDC) from 2008 through the
17	17	15 2018 elections; during his tenure, he was noted for his
18	18	16 dedication, leading the organization with heart and vision and
19	19	17 serving as an ally and mentor to many; he spearheaded
20	20	18 Operation: Turn DuPage Blue and dramatically increased the
21	21	19 ranks of elected precinct committeepersons across the county;
22	22	20 his guidance helped elect three Democrats to the DuPage County
23	23	21 Board in 2008 and seven in 2018; he also oversaw a number of
24	24	22 successful fundraisers and gala events; after stepping down in

33	33	1 early 2019, he continued to be involved as a precinct
34	34	2 committeeperson in York and as a member of the DPDC Executive
35	35	3 Committee; he was also the former vice president of the
36	36	4 Illinois Democratic County Chairs' Association (IDCCA); and
37	37	5 WHEREAS, Robert Peickert was known for his confidence,
38	38	6 perseverance, and generosity; he was a passionate leader who
39	39	7 made a lasting impact on DuPage County; and
40	40	8 WHEREAS, Robert Peickert was the husband of the late
41	41	9 Patricia L. Peickert (Tribbensee); the father of Robert J.
42	42	10 Peickert, Sue (Paul) Phillips, and Judy (Frank) Porch; the
43	43	11 grandfather of five; the great-grandfather of three; and the
44	44	12 brother of the late James Peickert and Alexis Castellano;
45	45	13 therefore, be it
46	46	14 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL
47	47	15 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
48	48	16 Robert A. "Bob" Peickert and extend our sincere condolences to
49	49	17 his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
50	50	18 further
51	51	19 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
52	52	20 presented to the family of Robert Peickert as an expression of
53	53	21 our deepest sympathy.
