Synopsis: Regulated amusement devices. Provides that a device
operated by a nonprofit entity for educational purposes is not a
regulated amusement device that is subject to certain permitting,
insurance, and safety inspection requirements.
Effective: July 1, 2022.

SENATE BILL No. 96
A BILL FOR AN ACT to amend the Indiana Code concerning labor
and safety.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Indiana:
1 SECTION 1. IC 22-12-1-19.1, AS AMENDED BY P.L.32-2006,
2 SECTION 3, IS AMENDED TO READ AS FOLLOWS [EFFECTIVE
3 JULY 1, 2022]: Sec. 19.1. (a) "Regulated amusement device" means a
4 device designed to carry or convey one (1) or more persons in one (1)
5 or more planes or degrees of motion for the purpose of amusement,
6 recreation, or entertainment.
7 (b) The term includes the following:
8 (1) An amusement ride.
9 (2) A ski lift.
10 (3) A passenger tramway.
11 (4) An aerial tramway or lift.
12 (5) A surface lift or tow.
13 (6) A bull ride simulator.
14 (7) A bungee jump facility.
15 (c) The term does not include:
16 (1) a passenger operated device or an inflatable amusement
17 chamber; or
