Synopsis:  United States Supreme Court. Directs Congress to call a
constitutional convention under Article 5 of the Constitution of the
United States for the purpose of proposing an amendment to the
Constitution of the United States to fix the membership of the United
States Supreme Court at nine justices.
Effective:  A constitutional convention is called when 2/3 of the state
legislators make application to the congress to call a constitutional
convention to consider an amendment to the Constitution of the United
States.

RESOLUTION  No. 3
A JOINT RESOLUTION proposing an amendment to the federal
judiciary.
Be it resolved by the General Assembly of the State of Indiana:
1 SECTION 1. That the Congress of the United States is directed to
2 call a constitutional convention under Article 5 of the Constitution of
3 the United States for the purpose of proposing the following
4 amendment to the Constitution of the United States:
5 "ARTICLE ...The Supreme Court of the United States shall be
6 composed of nine Justices.".
7 SECTION 2. That certified copies of this resolution be sent to the
8 presiding officers of the Congress of the United States, to the Secretary
9 of the Senate and the Clerk of the United States House of
10 Representatives, to the presiding officer of each chamber of each state
11 legislature in the United States, and to the members of the Congress of
12 the United States from Indiana.

COMMITTEE REPORT
Madam President: The Senate Committee on Judiciary, to which
was referred Senate Joint Resolution No. 3, has had the same under
consideration and begs leave to report the same back to the Senate with
the recommendation that said resolution DO PASS.
