SENATE RESOLUTION ____
MADAM PRESIDENT:
I offer the following resolution and move its adoption:
1 A SENATE RESOLUTION congratulating White Lick
2 Presbyterian Church on its 170th anniversary.
3 Whereas, The White Lick Presbyterian Church was founded
4 in Hendricks County, Indiana, in 1851 by twelve members of
5 the Danville Presbyterian Church;
6 Whereas, The White Lick Presbyterian Church initially held
7 small church gatherings in the kitchen of Lee and Juan
8 (pronounced Joan) Patterson before building the first wood-
9 framed church in 1857 and eventually building the current
10 brick sanctuary in the 1870s using clay gathered from the
11 banks of White Lick Creek;
12 Whereas, Members of White Lick Presbyterian have
13 provided humanitarian support by delivering Christmas baskets
14 to homebound members, sending Mother's Day gifts to mothers
15 at a local domestic violence shelter, sponsoring an annual
16 Christmas giving tree, providing food for students during
17 school breaks, gathering school supplies for children locally
18 and abroad, serving monthly meals at a local mission, and
19 traveling on mission trips across the United States, Mexico, and
20 the Dominican Republic;

1 Whereas, Congregants of the White Lick Presbyterian
2 Church serve as leaders within and partner with various local
3 organizations including Parents of Addicted Loved Ones,
4 Sheltering Wings, Family Promise of Hendricks County,
5 Chords of Love, Way Maker, and Susie's Place Child Advocacy
6 Center; and
7 Whereas, The White Lick Presbyterian Church has grown
8 beyond its humble beginnings as a rural congregation to taking
9 a strong leadership role within the national and international
10 Presbyterian Church and becoming a generational presence
11 affectionately recognized throughout Hendricks County as the
12 "church in the wildwood": Therefore,
13 Be it resolved by the Senate of the
14 General Assembly of the State of Indiana:
15 SECTION 1. That the Indiana Senate congratulates the
16 White Lick Presbyterian Church on its 170th anniversary.
17 SECTION 2. The Secretary of the Senate is hereby directed
18 to transmit copies of this Resolution to Reverend Ruth C.
19 Moore.
