SENATE RESOLUTION ____
MADAM PRESIDENT:
I offer the following resolution and move its adoption:
1 A SENATE RESOLUTION honoring Sally Sloan for her
2 contributions to Indiana's public education.
3 Whereas, Sally Sloan was a public high school teacher,
4 having taught for 15 years at Kouts High School;
5 Whereas, Throughout her career, Sloan has been deeply
6 involved with her work, serving as the media specialist for the
7 East Porter County School Corporation's middle school and
8 high school, sponsoring the yearbook, directing plays, and
9 sponsoring the school's Media Club;
10 Whereas, Sloan is a lifelong Hoosier, growing up in Muncie
11 Community Schools before earning her Bachelor's Degree from
12 Ball State and her Master's Degree from Purdue Calumet in
13 Educational Media and English;
14 Whereas, In 1989, Sloan began working for the American
15 Federation of Teachers, ultimately serving as a lobbyist from
16 2000 until her retirement in 2022;
17 Whereas, In addition to her professional dedication as a
18 teacher, Sloan is also a faithful board member of the Castleton
19 Church of the Nazarene; and

1 Whereas, Individuals who have shown such dedication and
2 effort in their service should be commended, as the future of
3 Indiana rests upon hardworking public education advocates
4 such as Sally Sloan: Therefore,
5 Be it resolved by the Senate of the
6 General Assembly of the State of Indiana:
7 SECTION 1. That the Indiana Senate honors Sally Sloan
8 for her contributions to Indiana's public education.
9 SECTION 2. That the Secretary of the Senate is hereby
10 directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to Sally Sloan.
