RESOLUTION No. ____
1 A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION recognizing the Hoosier
2 Women Artists program.
3 Whereas, Hoosier Women Artists is recognized as a program
4 that celebrates and expands the important role of art and
5 creativity in Indiana communities;
6 Whereas, Since 2008, the Hoosier Women Artists program
7 has uplifted the work of talented female artists throughout the
8 state;
9 Whereas, The program is a partnership between the Indiana
10 Arts Commission and the Office of the Lieutenant Governor;
11 Whereas, The participating officials are Lieutenant Governor
12 Suzanne Crouch, Secretary of Education Dr. Katie Jenner,
13 Auditor of State Tera Klutz, Chief Justice Loretta Rush, and
14 First Lady Janet Holcomb;
15 Whereas, Female artists living in Indiana are encouraged to
16 submit artwork for display in the office of a female public
17 official;
18 Whereas, Hundreds of artists around the state of Indiana
19 submit their artwork each year, showcasing extraordinary
20 Hoosier talent with impeccable and detailed artistry; and
21 Whereas, The program proudly lifts up Hoosier women artists
22 and uses the offices throughout the historic Statehouse and
23 Governor's Residence to display the work of Indiana artists for
24 the thousands of groups, school children, and visitors who tour

1 the buildings annually: Therefore,
2 Be it resolved by the House of Representatives
3 of the General Assembly of the State of Indiana,
4 the Senate concurring:
5 SECTION 1. That the Indiana General Assembly recognizes
6 the Hoosier Women Artists program and honors the program
7 during the 2023 Hoosier Women Artists awards ceremony at
8 the Indiana Statehouse on March 29, 2023.
9 SECTION 2. That the Principal Clerk of the House of
10 Representatives shall transmit copies of this resolution to State
11 Representative Sheila Klinker for distribution.
