21	17		1 A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION urging the Indiana
22	18		2 Department of Transportation to rename a section of State Road
23	19		3 135 in Harrison County between School Lane Northeast and
24	20		4 Buffalo Trace Road the "Jacob T. McClanahan Memorial
25	21		5 Mile".
26	22		6 Whereas, Jacob T. McClanahan was born November 3,
27	23		7 1997, in Corydon, Indiana, to Marty D. and Deborah Miller
28	24		8 McClanahan;
29	25		9 Whereas, Jacob graduated from Corydon Central High
30	26		10 School in 2016 and dedicated his life to working with and
31	27		11 serving the Harrison County community ever since he could
32	28		12 legally drive;
33	29		13 Whereas, Jacob worked as a truck driver for the Harrison
34	30		14 County Highway Department and volunteered at the Ramsey
35	31		15 Volunteer Fire Department, the Harrison Township Volunteer
36	32		16 Fire Department, the New Middletown Volunteer Fire
37	33		17 Department, and the Leavenworth Fire Department;
38	34		18 Whereas, On the evening of May 16, 2022, Jacob and a
39	35		19 friend were driving on Highway 135 near Palmyra, Indiana,
40	36		20 when they pulled over to assist a stranded motorist who had
41	37		21 run out of gas and remained partially in the roadway;
42	38		22 Whereas, While Jacob worked to help direct traffic around
43	39		23 the scene, the stranded driver pulled out a shotgun and fired
44	40		24 towards a Palmyra Police Reserve Officer who had been
45	41		25 assisting the driver, but the bullet fatally struck 24-year-old

47	43		1 Jacob instead; and
48	44		2 Whereas, Jacob's lifelong contributions and sacrifice to his
49	45		3 hometown should be celebrated and remembered by family,
50	46		4 friends, and those traveling through Harrison County for years
51	47		5 to come: Therefore,
52	48		6 Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly
53	49		7 of the State of Indiana, the House of Representatives
54	50		8 concurring:
55	51		9 SECTION 1. That the Indiana General Assembly urges the
56	52		10 Indiana Department of Transportation to rename a section of
57	53		11 State Road 135 in Harrison County between School Lane
58	54		12 Northeast and Buffalo Trace Road the "Jacob T. McClanahan
59	55		13 Memorial Mile".
60	56		14 SECTION 2. The Secretary of the Senate is hereby directed
61	57		15 to transmit copies of this Resolution to the family of Jacob T.
62	58		16 McClanahan and the Commissioner of the Indiana Department
63	59		17 of Transportation.

66	62		Madam President: The Senate Committee on Homeland Security
67	63		and Transportation, to which was referred Senate Concurrent
68	64		Resolution No. 6, has had the same under consideration and begs leave
69	65		to report the same back to the Senate with the recommendation that
70	66		said resolution DO PASS.
