1111 MADAM PRESIDENT:
1212 I offer the following resolution and move its adoption:
1313 1 A SENATE RESOLUTION recognizing the Indiana Wing
1414 2 of the Civil Air Patrol for its Cadet Program.
1515 3 Whereas, Founded on December 1, 1941, the Civil Air
1616 4 Patrol (CAP) was created to provide emergency services
1717 5 nationwide as a civilian auxiliary to the U.S. Air Force;
1818 6 Whereas, Comprised of vigilant citizens, CAP's 60,000
1919 7 volunteers protect the homeland by engaging in search and
2020 8 rescue missions and providing disaster relief while also
2121 9 promoting aviation and related fields through aerospace
2222 10 education;
2323 11 Whereas, Focused on shaping future leaders, the Indiana
2424 12 Wing's Cadet Program transforms young Hoosiers ages 12 to
2525 13 21 into dynamic Americans and aerospace leaders through a
2626 14 curriculum that emphasizes leadership, aerospace education,
2727 15 fitness, and character;
2828 16 Whereas, Cadets have the opportunity to earn academic
2929 17 scholarships to further their studies in fields such as
3030 18 engineering, science, aircraft mechanics, aerospace medicine,
3131 19 and meteorology, and those who achieve cadet officer status

3333 1 can enter the U.S. Air Force as an Airman First Class (E3);
3434 2 Whereas, Indiana Wing cadets contribute to the Wing's
3535 3 emergency services role, participating in ground teams and
3636 4 communications, comprising a crucial component of CAP's
3737 5 emergency service mission;
3838 6 Whereas, Every July, the Indiana Wing hosts the Indiana
3939 7 Wing Summer Encampment at Camp Atterbury, where cadets
4040 8 develop leadership skills, learn about aerospace, develop
4141 9 healthy exercise habits, and have fun;
4242 10 Whereas, CAP cadets can participate in CyberPatriot, a
4343 11 National Youth Cyber Education Program sponsored by the Air
4444 12 Force Association, where teams compete and learn about
4545 13 cybersecurity by defending a computer network against a
4646 14 virtual cyber attack;
4747 15 Whereas, The Johnson Flight Academy is a two-week
4848 16 National Cadet Special Activity that provides CAP cadets with
4949 17 glider, balloon, or powered flight instruction; and
5050 18 Whereas, The Indiana Wing of CAP demonstrates an
5151 19 outstanding commitment to the youth of Indiana through their
5252 20 Cadet Program, providing opportunities for personal growth,
5353 21 leadership development, and aviation education while instilling
5454 22 the values of citizenship, character, and service to the
5555 23 community and nation: Therefore,
5656 24 Be it resolved by the Senate of the
5757 25 General Assembly of the State of Indiana:
5858 26 SECTION 1. That the Indiana Senate recognizes the
5959 27 Indiana Wing of the Civil Air Patrol for its Cadet Program.
6060 28 SECTION 2. The Secretary of the Senate is hereby directed
6161 29 to transmit a copy of this Resolution to the Indiana Wing of the
6262 30 Civil Air Patrol.
