43 | 43 | | 6 Sec. 1. For purposes of this chapter, "public school corporation" |
---|
44 | 44 | | 7 has the meaning set forth in IC 4-4-38.5-6.2. |

45 | 45 | | 8 Sec. 2. The school lead testing and remediation grant program |
---|
46 | 46 | | 9 is established. The state department shall administer the program. |
---|
47 | 47 | | 10 Sec. 3. (a) The school lead testing and remediation grant fund is |
---|
48 | 48 | | 11 established for the purpose of making grants to public school |
---|
49 | 49 | | 12 corporations to perform lead testing and remediation in schools. |
---|
50 | 50 | | 13 The state department shall administer the fund. |
---|
51 | 51 | | 14 (b) The fund consists of: |
---|
52 | 52 | | 15 (1) money appropriated to the fund by the general assembly; |
---|
53 | 53 | | 16 (2) money received from state or federal grants or programs; |
---|

56 | 56 | | 1 (3) gifts, money, and donations received from any other |

57 | 57 | | 2 source, including transfers from other funds or accounts. |

58 | 58 | | 3 (c) The expenses of administering the fund shall be paid from |

60 | 60 | | 5 (d) The treasurer of state shall invest the money in the fund not |
---|
61 | 61 | | 6 currently needed to meet the obligations of the fund in the same |
---|
62 | 62 | | 7 manner as other public money may be invested. Interest that |
---|
63 | 63 | | 8 accrues from the investments shall be deposited in the fund. |
---|
64 | 64 | | 9 (e) Money in the fund at the end of a state fiscal year does not |
---|
65 | 65 | | 10 revert to the state general fund. |
---|
66 | 66 | | 11 Sec. 4. (a) A public school corporation seeking a grant under |
---|
67 | 67 | | 12 this chapter must submit a proposal to the state department in a |
---|
68 | 68 | | 13 manner prescribed by the state department. |
